Thanks Kerry!

Now, I just need to do a lot of practicing before I try to weld anything of value.

Toolie, only to the extent that I like the designs, etc., of the old Gypsy Style wagons. I don't have the money to actually own one!

No, I haven't used one, but it looks like the same manufacturer as Lincoln. That seems like a great deal since it comes with the argon/co2 regulator & hose too. That alone is at least another 50 bucks usually? I've been thinking about ordering one for use as a portable since my shop welder is too big to tote around. $25.39 shipping to me ain't bad either.

Thanks for the comeback Brick
There is a Northern tool store pretty close to me here
in San Antonio.I will try to get there in the next few days.(if my wife will lengthen my leash) They are having a 10% off sale and I think if you open an acct. with them you get another 10%.Anyway it is worth a 15 min ride to get an"eyes on" look at it.
Thanks again
Mike

That doesn't say (or I could not find) what it claims is the max thickness of material that you can weld is. Maybe 1/8" or so?

Kerry, that is a good point, in the review section of the mod.164611 there is some info about the thicker steel.
I plan to pin the salesperson down kinda tight about the capabilities of it.

OK I went to Northern tool and checked out the Northern mod135 the packaging said it welds up to 3/16 mild steel
The salesman ( who btw looked way too much like Mike S.)No Bull his name is even Mike.Anyway no can do on the double dip coupon either open a new acct and get 10% or use the after thanksgiving 10%.
also the 299.99 online price is only good online plus shipping. He bought the Hobart 140 but it was before northern had the 135.He also said they sell a lot of the 135 mod but has had a few come back too.The Hobart is
on sale for 499.98 but you get the #1646165 and 164770acc. with it.
It is rated to weld 1/4 steel.Hobart =made in USA...
Northern made in china.
:( didn't buy either $ too short right now for the 140 and trying to not spend too much on china
hope this info helps someone

Howdy everyone,

I received an email ad from Northern Tool yesterday that offered the Hobart 140 MIG welder for $449.99 with free shipping.
