You don't want any insulated refrigeration box where you access the contents by opening the front, because everytime you open it, you dump all the cold out and replace it with hot, humid air, which throws all your thermodynamics computations for a loop - You'll melt your ice twice as fast as if you had a top opening unit
All 'minimal energy' cooling systems should only be acessed from the top because since cold air is heavier than hot air, you can keep them separate even while your icebox is open - Any sailor could have told you that . . . . without a degree in Physics or Thermodynamics
