moon-roof ideas needed

Postby alloffroad » Mon Jun 02, 2008 12:24 am

I would like to install a moon roof in my tt. My concerns are

1; water tight, 2; safety from falling sugerpine cones and/or thrown objects(kids :R ), 3; closing it to shade the interior during the day light hours.

I am used to sleeping in the back of my truck but when the family goes the trailer goes. I would still like to see the night sky. I guess even a fiberglass cover over a large screen would work. Let me know what you have done.

Find yourself a moon roof out of a car with a fairly flat roof. Boneyards will sell em fairly cheap. I've got one out of a 95 Grand Prix for my next one...it's electric even. And with a little lookin and planning you can probably find one that has a hidden sun shade.

And if you want the moon roof to be watertight, find out how much curvature there is in its base when it's not fitted and then add packing strips on the teardrop roof around the hole, so that when you fit it, it stays in its correct curve.

There may be flat moon roofs, but I very much doubt it - force a curved one flat and you've got a recipe for leaks.

Nothing like lying on yer back looking up at the stars with a steady drip falling on yer face......

All their gonna see is a old fat man in his sweats.

I'm 5'9" and I have to tippy toe to see in in the front. And most folks respect each others campsite. Even with the interior lights on its difficult to see in . The reflection off of the smoked surface makes it difficult.
And what the hell I ain't bashful.

That's what camera strobes are for. Then while they're stumbling around in the dark half blind, smear them with honey and tie them out near the dumpster.

My brother'll never peek in MY window again.

Bob,

I think I know where some of the Midwest's UFO reports come from now.

This is just too cool. What an awesome view you'll have of the redwoods at IRG 2.0.
