Under My Skin?

Postby Seth A » Sat Jul 19, 2008 4:21 am

:) what should be done under the Al skin? Do most leave it bare wood? or seal it? I plan on Spar Urethane on the sides that will be left wood but should I use the same to seal underneath the aluminum skin on the roof? I seems that any water underneath would quickly degrade bare wood. Thoughts?

Seth, you've answered your own question 8) Just do what you will be comfortable with. If you're worried about a little bit of water getting in then seal it first. If you think the contact will seal it, then do that.

Me, I seal every bit of timber on my TD's before I cover them.

Cheers
Paul

I know this is not a tear, but it shows where water can creep. The dark areas of the wood are caused by rot, and can be torn apart by your fingers.

I just used more of the spar varnish I used for everything else. Not sure it's the best thing, but it's what I had.
