Nu-Alum and Panel 15

Today I went to my local sign shop to get a sign made for my father's business. (the sign shop is located next door). I was introduced to "nu-alum" as a substrate for the sign . Just a quick look made me think TD side walls . I'm still contemplating my own build project and the price of the stuff might give me a heart attack when I find out what 2 4X 8 sheets cost . Have any in the group ever used these materials?

I've used a ton of Wrisco product in the past, when working in the sign industry...they have good quality materials...you might be able to save some money by getting together with the purchasing agent at a larger sign co. that buys Wrisco by the pallet load...they can just add your stuff onto it and not have to bite the bullet with a 1 shot order....they might not want to mess with it however...the guy next door can probably get it for you, but shipping might be pricy...I don't know what you have for a budget though...When building a boat, I buy all the marine grade stuff I'm going to need up to 5x10's and have it shipped in 1 crate...Doug

Man I wish I had things thought out that far in advance. It still takes me several trips to the Depot or Lowes for one portion much less a whole project.

I bought my aluminum from Wrisco here in Atlanta. It was just plain mill finish 4x8x.040. Not the fancy panel. No complaints.

Just spoke to the sign shop again and a 4 X 8 sheet delived will be ~$130 delivered to the shop next day. I think for the time savings, finish and enginering I can't go wrong. I will be making a template before I cut the stuff. I'll get some pictures of it thursday!

Paul,
Sounds like a deal to me!! Decent ply is expensive. Add to that the time (and risk) of skinning. I checked out the links, nice stuff. I've seen it used in store fronts. I might try it for a mini-tear project I have in mind for the kids to use.
I'd be interested in your progress! Great Idea to use a template!!

I finally took my camera to work with me . I've posted a picture of the material in my photo album. It has a pretty finish , smooth as glass .
