Start of the "Love Dome II"

Postby Thebigdirty » Wed Feb 13, 2008 1:03 pm

Well here is the start of the Love Dome II. Long story behind the name, really not fit for these forums  . It was basically the nickname for my old dome tent. So keeping the tradition going it was only fitting to name my upgrade just that.

I am going to be following the Generic Benroy plans to some degree, of course adding my own variations throughout the build. I am working with the 5 x 8 utility trailer from Redtrailers as the frame.

Here are some pics of the recent work.
Frame built

Gussets with the Stabilizer mounted to em

Sub floor with the goop, routed edge to stay flush on the cross members, and start of insulation.

Floor insulated and half of the top floor secured.

Next is wiring it up and getting it registered. Sorry if the pics are a bit fuzzy, my camera broke and am using the ol' cell phone for the build. It was either the tear or a new camera, I opted for the tear. :D

It has been a long time since the last post! I have progress and pics for all of you. Trying to finish this baby by the end of the Month! I really need to go camping and it's starting to get hot in the Valley.

Well It's been a while but I have slowly been plugging away at it. Here are some more pics.

Profile with the hatch open. Using the tried and true 2x4 to hold'er up. I see some gas shocks in my near future
Image

Here it is with the hatch closed. Suprisingly that went on fairly easy after many thought sessions.
Image

Here it is with the drip rail and porch light installed. I flicked the switch and it worked!!!
Image

So the next part of business is getting some fenders that look decent and installing the solar panel. I need to come up with some sort of "Z" aluminum bracket or trim to mount the solar panel to the roof. If anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated.
