Ready to start building but have questions!!

Postby rabelgirls » Thu Aug 13, 2009 11:53 am

Ok everyone. It's been awhile since I have last posted. Couldn't convince hubby to join me in this venture. However, he is finially on board with it and we have even already bought the trailer!!

We bought a heavy duty one with 15" tires. It has a wooden bottom to it. It also already has the fenders. It's 5x8 too.

So here are my questions..

1. Should we replace the boards on the floor? Use existing boards as a sub floor? Or just use it as the floor and seal it?

2. We are building the weekender and I am wondering if there is a list of basic materials listed somewhere so I can print it out and take it with me.

That's all I have for now. I am sure I will have more. We are very anxious to get this started and use it before it gets cold.

Thanks in advance for your help!! We are going to need everyone's expertice on this!!

...glad ya finally got back toit...a couple of thoughts...if you bought a "heavy duty" trailer, it is probably at least twice as much as you need and anything you can do to reduce its weight is favorable...to wit...start with dumping the floor and pics...we need pics to give the most valuable information we can...I don't know of any material lists for a weekender unless one of the other members has compiled one...your actual list of materials will depend on what techniques/materials and added amenities/built ins you use for your build, other than that any of the lists you come across will have to be modified anyway.......
