When I added the gas springs to my hatch last weekend, I introduced the famous "hatch springback" to my hatch. If you look at the first picture, you'll see the big gap, where the hatch no longer seals.



My solution was to get a couple more stainless steel latches from McMaster Carr and install them at the point where the gap was the biggest. Now when I close that latch, the hatch seals again!

Is this the same one where you had the struts near the hinge and it messed with the hinge, so you moved them down and now it seems that it pushed up in the new location?

I am thinking I am liking those old style locking non gas struts more and more. I think my hatch is pretty stout too though.

How is your hatch constructed? I used your Benroy plans for the construction style of my hatch, 3/4" Plywood for the framing. I might still use your idea anyway as my hatch does not line to perfectly with the galley wall cap all the way around. I am just hoping that it will seal tighter at the bottom where the gap is a little less.
