Today was insulation day... At first, I felt a little guilty for not doing the work myself. Now, not so much... Applying spray foam insulation is work thats better left to professionals. These guys worked hard for about 5 hours. It would have taken me a month!

Wow, that is amazing.

We called around for that kind of insulation, but nobody would talk to us. If you don't mind, how much did that set you back?

I am so glad I looked at this. I was about to order a DIY PU foam spray kit. That is way more than I would want to tackle...

Looks great. I bet that thing will be perfect on a cold winter night.

kudos on a very nice, quality build. the sink and range you installed are elegant and have a cool gadget factor of 10!

and the insulation! wow...aside from sealing every nook and cranny from the elements, it will be nice and quiet inside your rig.

Mike...

We had the same problem, Mike. I called around a bunch to. Most foam guys either wouldn't call me back or I would immediatly get a "we don't do trailers" response. Only one company was willing to do the job. He said that they don't turn down jobs, big or small. There is, however, a minimum cost, and this job was at (actually $50 below) the minimum for them. See below for the cost...

You're right on the money... The owner of the foam company stopped by to see the project. He said it would keep water and insects out too. He said I could probably turn it into a boat if I wanted to.

I did the same thing. I almost order a DIY kit from TigerFoam (They have a fire retardent product). By the time I figured out how much I needed, it just made more sense to have it done. As you know, the DIY kits are not cheap. I would have had to order 600 BD Feet to get it done.

Thanks Wayne, Thanks Miguel. I'm just trying to live up to my tag line! :)

That's a good estimate, but I didn't pay that much! I think they miscalculated just how much labor was involved in the job. I paid $750 ($800 is usually their minimum), which is only about $100 more than a DIY kit. For a hundred bucks more, I couldn't justify (or rationalize) doing it myself. The guys even went around the trailer and covered all the joints in the framing with caulking. There shouldn't be any leaks anywhere.

I say you scored! The thing is when you do anything yourself is you that every time you ether buy way too much or you don't buy enough to finish the whole project.plus they had all the correct tool including on of those sweet saws.

I asked them about those saws... They said they were actually air powered auto body sanders. They just put saw blades on them. They cut through that foam like it was deep fried butter.

Now that is cool. If I had seen this before my build I would have wanted to do the same. Unfortunately I built my walls, roof and hatch at different times and it would not have been cost effective to have them come out 3 times. They did a great job and I'm jealous.

Very nice, Bill! Ranks 10 out of 10 on the cool factor scale.

I guess you got this done "under cover" before the HOA enforcers came around.

Have you decided how you are going to finish the exterior?

Thanks Tom! You know, I'd rather ask for forgiveness than permission.

As for the exterior finish... yeah, I've made up my mind.
