Howdy from Cincinnati

Grettings to you all!

I joined the website a little over two years ago and this is my first posting. I feel like I've gotten to know some of you just by reading your posts. I've stolen, uh, I mean borrowed tons of ideas from all of you and finished my first teardrop a couple of months ago. I call her LadyBug.

After my wife died of cancer about 2 years ago, I needed something to keep my mind busy. We had taken early "retirement" for my wife while she was sick and bought a used 29 foot RV. It was a source of good memories for a few months before her passing. Then I saw a teardrop and fell in love with the whole concept. (Does anyone want to buy a used RV?)

The internet is a wonderful place to research. I started desiging a teardrop trailer. It took several months to get it like I wanted, but I wasn't in a hurry.

LadyBug has 4500 miles on her and has traveled like a champ. Now I'm looking to build a teardrop (well, sort of) that I can stand up in. That will mean more time back at the drawing board!

TTT's are here to stay!

Dear Jim,

Very sorry to hear of your loss, and want to welcome you to the group! I hope you will post pictures of LadyBug so we can steal, um, I mean borrow some ideas from you, too.

I know I have made the most progress on my build since my Dad passed away in February 2009 - Going downstairs and working on the camper has been like a therapy for me, especially when I am too much in my head.

I sometimes wonder if I will ever get this first build done, although it is coming along, slow but sure. If I ever do get it done, I've thought the hypothetical next build might be a standy, too.

Keep us posted - And post us some pictures, OK?

Hi Jim. Glad you are "coming out." so to speak.

I lived In Cincinnati for a few years as a young teenager. In Mack, to be exact. I survived the F5 tornado of April 3, 1974. Yup, I'll never forget Cincinnati.

BTW, I am also a cancer survivor. It made me appreciate the simple things in life, like camping, even more than I did before.

Like everything else, the more you put into it, the more you will get out of it. Go to some gatherings. You will have a great time, and make some friends for life.

Great to have you on board.

Jim,
Welcome to the forum. Very sorry for the loss of your wife.
Good looking Tear. Have you joined the TearJerkers for your area. I met some of the Buckeye Chapter and they are all so nice, a real great group.
Good way to make new friends.
Enjoy your 2nd build,
Bill and Marijo :vroom:
Hope to see you on the road.

Hi Jim,

Welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear about your wife. You did a nice job on the teardrop though.

I'd like to see or hear what you have planned for your standie.

Mike...

P.S. The closest I got to Cincinnati was eating at some restaurant along the river on St. Patty's day. The name's eluding me at the moment.
The quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten, so build your teardrop with the best materials...
