We hiked in.. did some climbing.. hiked out.. then I joined another group for a couple hour snowshoe.. :D


I love winter adventures too but right now my idea of winter exercising is lifting those logs to put them in the fireplace! :)

today's work out. I spend 10 min. on my water rower, 10 on my elliptical... some of that time no handed with my eyes closed.

I then did some core work and some weight training.

I have been working on ankle strength and balance for a while but a few weeks ago trying some ice skating, I found my feet still hurt. So tonight I thought I would just spend some time with roller blades on my feet, standing in them. I was on a rug.. so they were fairly stable against rolling out from under me, while still working the feet and ankles.

I decided while I was standing there, that I would some some weight work also. I also went side to side standing on one skate then the other.. sort of like I was skating..

Today's workout. a fairly intense 2 hour snowshoe..

We did a bunch of steep hills.. running most of them. :D

Todays work out.. Odds and ends of lifting.. more upper body orientated.
We plan on doing a good group snowshoe tomorrow.. and I wanted my legs a little fresher.

I will also do a bit of stretching.. and foam rolling

I'm doing the couch to 5k. Just finished my second week and I've lost at least ten pounds. :)

Ok I can lift again and I can walk again (I hope) so I got up took a grand kid to school. Walked over the car lot and the store! Made the beds, cleaned the bath room, packed up some more boxes of books..............I have two houses and painting and :? Too busy to exercise in a formal way!!! :thinking: Is that a good excuse? :R

How are you measuring the 5k :thinking:

By time mostly. But I do know that it's a mile around the high school. The school is two blocks away. In the third week I think the I'm at around 1.5 mile.

I get some distance on the couch too. grin

Speaking of excercise, I am planning on doing a 10k hike/walk this summer, how should I prepare?
If I could shut my brain off, I could save myself alot of time, money and effort.

not to be a smart a$$.. but walk.

just start walking... and over time increase your distance.

any physical activity.. will help to a certain extent. But really it is best to actually do, what it is you want to do.

In order to get fit for cycling.. one should bike. In years past I have been in real good shape for and from cycling. But then I spend a day walking around.. and it would hurt.. :thinking: :?

This seems to get worse as you get older.

There are times it can be hard to train for your activity.

Here it is kind of hard to waterski in the winter. There strength training programs that will help you with the muscles one would use.

walking can be done pretty much anywhere... any time.
