twist locks to disconnect your camper from the trailer

Anything to do with mechanical, construction etc

well if you use lengths of pipe as sleeves, and a smaller pipe inside those like a hinge pin. it might be a bear to get loose, though.. think how much fun it is to take a door off its hinges.

pipe hangers, clamps, straps would secure the "sleeve pipe".

i was thinking how cool would it be to just pop legs on the ends of the pipes and tada the camper is standing. then just pull the trailer ahead and away.

wow, jnowis sneaked one in there as i was typing.
personally, i think the frame and camper are best when designed as a unibody.

if the posts and quickrelease pins works though why not so you could have a cargo trailer again?

Well I checked with vendors and distributors and they cannot find me any quarter turn fastners long enough to attach a 2x2 framed floor to the trailer so looks like I will have to do my thought of the posts and pins

what about something like these? A turning lock lift handle. Maybe put 1 in each corner or 3 on a side.

ebay/google search for "Stainless Round Turning lock hatch lift handle with key"
I think they also come in with a lock if needed.
It says "Diameter: 2-1/2" Overall Height: 3-1/2" Range of Locking Adjustment: 1-1/4" to 3"."

It would just be a matter of figuring out what that arm swings into/under.

ok its been a couple days of mulling this over,

what if i just put a pipe flange inside the camper bolted to the floor and drill hole, and thread a nice strong water pipe through the pipe flange pointing down i'll have four of these one for each part a 2x4 sidwall holders go into the trailer, then i just put a quickrelease pin through the 2x4 sidewall holder into the frame of the trailer itself..

what do you guys think.. if i do this i should probably weld the 2x4 holders to the trailer instead of keeping them bolted on?

If I built something like this for myself, I would
weld a 1/2 or larger nut to a plate, make 6 to 8 of these assemblies
mount the plates to the trailer, somewhat inside the wall profile
drop a bolt with either a fender washer, or larger backing plate through the floor of the cabin and tighten

I considered going this route, but decided against it as to take the cabin on and off of the frame would have created problems like having to make sure my construction could handle the torsion of an uneven lift, and strengthening the lifting points, as well as emptying everything out of the trailer every time I removed it.

Transit case latch.

Looks like a glorified recessed hasp to me.

Something a little lighter duty ?
