Leaf Spring selection question

I am actually planning out my build. FINALLY. Its based on StomperXJ's Sawtooth XL. It will be longer and a little taller to give more storage space and possibly an AC for Texas.

I have 2 choices for springs from a local shop. These will be used to mount a 3500 lb. braked axle.

1) 25.25" 1250 lb double eye
2) 29" 1000 lb slipper

This is an off-road design. The longer/lighter spring would probably give a smoother ride but I don't know much about the slippers and their pros/cons.

Having worked with and old CJ-5, I know how double eye springs work.

So from the experiened builders, do you prefer double eye or slider springs and why? I don't want to use a torsion axle. I want the extra height that the springs will give me for rough terrain.

I would choose the double eye over slipper springs.
