"Le Petite Chateau"

I would vote with your hubby because Chateau has been Americanized in use so much. Now "Le Petit Maison" still has that flavor of the fine French language

Hi Jim! I know what you mean about the "Chateau" but I really like it better than Maison. At this point hubby doesn't care...he just wants me to stop walking around saying "Chateau"? "Maison"? "Chateau"? "Maison"?

Ok ladies, I think it's official - "Le Petit Chateau". "La" and "Le" are the same except I think one is feminine and the other masculine. So, I need to know which is which. I think "La" is fem. Can anyone confirm that?

Shortened to LPC is okay, too; but don't call it "La Chat" which might be interpreted to mean "Le maison du chat" !

I like the moniker, "La 'Teau", but it needs the apostrophe so people will realize it's a contraction.

I had a thought after seeing your naming process:

Why not add "a rouler" -To roll - [phonetically: ah roo lay] to the name?

As in the Mardis Gras slogan "Laissez les bons temps rouler." aka in
English as "Let the good times roll."

I thought it would tie in with your Louisianian Roots and all.

or roulant]

"La Petit Maison/Chateau Roulant"
"La Petit Maison/Chateau Rouler"

'the rolling small chateau' in French is: 'le château de roulement petits'
'the small rolling chateau' in French is: 'le petit château de roulement'
'my small rolling chateau' in French is: 'mon petit château de roulement'
'my small chateau that rolls' in French: 'mon petit château qui roule'
'my small cottage that rolls' in French: 'ma petite maison qui roule'

[I'm always amazed at how most languages I've stumbled with seem
to have bass-ackwards word order, usually, compared to our beloved
English.]

Anyway - I do not speak French - all this came from trying to get an
arrangement of the words 'small', chateau/maison' and 'rolling' that
were the French equivalents or would pass for such to us and wouldn't
sound too odd, despite it probably souunding that way to a native
French speaker, but to digress... this is how I did it in case you want
to play around with it:

I Googled "english to french translation", chose: Google.com/ig , which
put me on the iGoogle translation page, clicked on "Translate Text on
iGoogle" button/bar in the upper right corner and worked with the page
that was brought up.

After all this: I offer these possibilities as a suggestion:

"Mon Petit Château Qui Roule" - the correct translation of:
"My small chateau that rolls"
or

"Ma Petite Maison Qui Roule" - the correct translation of:
"My small cottage that rolls"

or

"La Petit Chateau Rouler" - the Americanized order of the French
words for:The, Small, Chateau, and Roll'
ignoring French grammar of course!
