I thought it was you who posted a dropped floor/storage before here. I liked the idea. And I thought about one big removable panel but two would be easier to get to if you are in the trailer. You can sit on one side or the other and open them up. So, whatever works for you. And yes, there is a metal frame member that cut thru right there, the tongue.
