Built in sink and stove?????

General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

I put a sink in mine because, frankly, I like being able to get up in the morning and brush my teeth right away and have ready coffee water available. It truly comes in handy for that. I also added a shower. For some, that's overkill, but I like being able to shower in my own campsite and the hand held shower head really comes in handy for washing the big griddle and other, larger items. Just my two cents worth. ;)

Mr. Cowboy,

It is/was an NOS. new in the box vintage Can-O-Mat can opener, from the late 40's-50's, roughly.
I didn't really need it as I have a couple hand held can openers, but part of the challenge of building this trailer was to "have a place" for as many things as possible, to reduce the amount of time needed searching through drawers.
The more time saving built ins I have, the more time is left to enjoy my short vacations...and a little luxury is nice too ;)
(If you can call opening cans of food a luxury...)

Mike,

What kind of bracket are you using for your grill?

I did not build in a sink or stove in my 4 wide. I would do it all over again even if I do go wider. I use two nesting rectangle plastic basins, light, cheap, replaceable and versatile. Also dirt easy to build.

:D :D

Normally I use a coleman 425 stove that fits in a shelf I built under the counter for it.

I have two swing out little tables. The stove normally goes on the right and the wash basins go on the left.

It works for me.

My own personal preference is to have counter space and versatility. So, I have an open countertop and a portable stove that I can put aside for prep, or even move to a table if I need the space.

Chell loves this sink on the outside of the giant tear...

Image

I've yet to figure out a way to build it into the side of my next project!

Mike...

P.S. As for the stove, we use a Coleman on the picnic table!!!

Something to help those can openers ... we keep a small metal brush around and periodically clean the cutting wheel ... They get Nasty !... and sometimes we disassemble the wheel and give em' a bit of mineral oil (food safe ). Can opener maintenance ... Never remember Grandma having to do that with the old wall model ... but that was some time ago !

Rob , Beauty can opener (FWIW) , along with everything else ..

GP, and Mr. Cowboy,

Thanks!

Now we all know there were never any germs around grandma's kitchen...

Good advice on the mineral oil!
I use alcohol now and then, but have never oiled them.

This opener may be a deluxe model, as when you put the can in and start to crank, it holds the can in place while you crank the handle, and doesn't let go until you "reverse" the crank.

I notice what looks like a fence pen to the right. Is that for a dog? Must be thinking myself about the same.

I have a cheap can opener stored in the wash basins with other stuff. If the can is small and/or i don't feel like looking for it I just pull out my Swiss Army knife, ( always in my pocket ).

All of my travel trailers had stoves and sinks some even had ovens.
I found the ovens to small but a good place to store bread.

the sink either the kitchen or the bathroom were used
kitchen for dishes, bathroom shaving and general hand-face washing.

When I ever get my CT I will most likely have a stove of some kind.
it may be what I already have toaster oven, two-burner hot plate, or the green Coleman white-gas two burner
the one that needs pumped up to work and of course a microwave
since I have all these items might as well use them.

I most likely will not have a sink that drains into a large holding tank
I have been in the hospital so many times I have a large assortment of sink/washbasins easy to use and work well.
