Home Built trailer

Alright Another question for everyone.

This time making my own frame.
I believe the trailer frame will be 6x12 with three cross members...

How do I calculate the correct a frame lay out?

What is the length from the main frame to the coupler suggested?

Does this make sense?

FB , when in doubt , you might consider copying the proportions of a good commercially made trailer ... all the engineering done for you ...
There’s no place like Foam !

I agree but I don't have easy access too a trailer that big near by.
And I can't find any plans online. I would love to buy some plans but I am trying to keep the money for actual material.

ANYONE HAVE PURCHASED FRAME PLANS?

Most are right around 36"-42"...the distance between the coupler and front frame rail isnt really all that important, as long as you can make a full turn with your tow vehicle and not hit the trailer. The axle location is what really matters, and thats based on the load thats on it, to get the tounge weight correct.
Measure the width of the rear of your vehicle to the widest point, divide that in half, and add a couple inches for a safety margin.
