Anyone use this Door Hinge???

Postby Loader » Fri Jul 01, 2011 7:05 pm

Been looking a few different style of door hinges, and this one caught my eye.

I know, I know, the quick release pin isn't the most secure, (probably just enough to keep someone honest) but the look of the hinge is pretty nice.

Anyone use these?

Earl,

I think Thomas (2bits) used these hinges. I believe he replace the quick release pin with a nylon bushing and bolt and nut.

Take care,
Tom

Thanks Tom.

I went and looked at Thomas' build thread, and, there they were! With all the times I have seen Thomas' trailer, would think I should have noticed them.

Thanks again!

Yup! Bought from http://www.discountmarinesupplies.com/Seadog_Long_Reach_Stainless_Hatch_Hinges.html
for $14.95 and this is the long-reach version. This was the cheapest I found and there was a WIDE variance in pricing on these things.

Tom you are partly right, I did not replace the pin with a bolt and nut, but I did put a nylon washer from a box store in the gap between the two hing pieces which took out most of the wobble nicely.

Also because of the door jamb trim and the T molding on top of that, the door set out almost an 1/8" inch, so I trimmed out a leftover piece from my plastic hatch hinge and used it as a spacer would be level on the body and the door.

Thanks Thomas!

So, no bolt and nut, kept the quick release pin but add nylon washers - Got it.

Appreciate the link too, $3 per hinge cheaper than McMaster-Carr.
