Riveting Filon

Postby Jerry & Molly » Wed Aug 10, 2011 5:58 pm

I've finally got the go-ahead from the better half to start on a TD. So right now I'm in the gathering stage. During my jaunts I ran across some filon sheets that are 6x16x.125. My question is can filon be riveted to a steel frame? I'm planning to build a TD 5.5x10 by 54" high with a minimal amount of wood using 1" 16 guage square tubing for the framework. Any info would be greatly appreciated. thanx

I don't see any issues with the rivets.. I would suggest some contstruction adhesive - and the rivets and maybe a washer - depends on the size of the rivet. Just make sure if you penertrate the surface make sure you can seal up the hole so no water gets in

Just my opinion

Good Luck and let us know how it works out.
