Compact Junior and Compact II Trailer Information Needed

Postby jmedclay » Thu Sep 08, 2011 7:09 am

Gang,

What are the basic trailer box dimensions of the Compact Junior (Compact Jr.), and Compact II? I'm looking for:

Interior height of the main box, floor to fixed ceiling
Width of the trolley top opening
Height of the trolley top ceiling when extended

Anyone here know?

I believe the overall box width is 6' and length is 13', though I'm not sure where those measurements were taken (the halves are trapezoidal).

I can find all kinds of photos on other sites, but not those dimensions. I'm betting that someone here knows the answers.

Thanks - John

If you want exact answers, I suggest you ask these questions over on the Fiberglass RV forum where there are many owners of Compacts of all generations: http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/

Are you building a clone Compact Jr.? May I ask what your project is? I have a 1971 Compact Jr. in progress.

cuyeda - My current project is the TD in my album but I am considering building a Compact Jr, unless I can find one for sale reasonably close to me in North Florida. I don't suppose you could take a tape measure to yours and grab those dimensions? I'd be forever grateful!

slow - already doing that with in-progress build, and definitely learning the hard way. The Compact Jr was well thought out, no need to refigure some of those dimensions.

angib - Thanks for the tip.

RE: Possible Compact Jr. Clone on Atlanta CL

Postby mezmo » Thu Sep 08, 2011 10:45 pm

Hi jmedclay,

CliffinGa posted a CL link today on a 1972 Hunter II in the 'not mine'
for sale section that looks like what I recall a Compact to be like. Here
it is:

Cheers,

@reo-ron

Thanks for sending the requested info on measurements. I was getting a round TUIT, but glad you sent what he needs.

Thanks for the dimensions and the lead on one for sale everyone. I'm just thinking about it as I work on my TD, not ready to buy one or build, but very intrigued by the design. Bumped into one at a campground. Very neat.
