Easy care toilet

Postby prohandyman » Mon Sep 26, 2011 8:01 pm

Anyone ever seen or used one of these? Bought one for our hunting camper. No water, uses a chemical in a bag to absorb liquid and odor. Seems to work well...kinda funky. Very easy and sanitary. Bio-degradable disposal bags.

Just make sure it will take your weight before really using it.
Wouldn't want to go head over teakettle at an opportune time. :o
And make it isn't too low to the ground. :?

Those have been used for a while. Reliance still makes one:

I noticed that Walmart is no longer selling this model on-line but may still have a few in their stores or other places.

The advantage with this type of potty is that they fold down to a nice small size for packing and transport. The disadvantage is that the plastic in the legs eventually begins to weaken and eventually gives way or breaks, leaving the pottying person in a literal mess. (My girlfriend was a victim of this problem.)

If you decide to use it, you can still get the bags with the chemical in them in the sporting goods section of local Walmart stores and other sporting goods stores. But, check those legs very, very well...every time you take it camping. It would probably be better to go with a Luggable Loo or the shorter Portable Hassock, both of which are sold on-line.

I don't know about that particular toilet frame, but I, personally, love the bags compared to the portapotty, outhouse or openaire. I occasionally use my portapotty by placing a bag in the bowl. Lots of people make their own with kitty litter.

I have had a Texsport collaspe under me, but I think I can correct that with a couple of loops of velcro. The Texsport folds compactly and I like that.

I have 2 porta potty's A Therford and a very similar Sears and do not like either one. The set too damn low to be comfortable for me. I have recently garnered three 5 gallon bucket lids. I am going to modify one lid by cutting out the center and screwing on a honest to God wooden toilet seat. Most of the lid locks will be removed to make removal easier. A second lid will remain original as a transport lid. These will be snapped onto a plastic bag lined 7 gallon bucket with absorbent. The 7 gallon bucket happens to be the exact height of a standard tall toilet.
Growing older but not up !

Ours is like that, a little low, but the legs fold so it packs easily.

The legs lock in place, it is pretty stable, works okay for us.

We use disposable bags we found at Walmart.

My Mom comes camping with me and is handicapped. I bought a folding bedside commode to put in the side tent that attaches to my raindrop. I also bought a lawn chair bag to carry it in. It works well and is very sturdy and stable.

Just a thought.

Here's my version bought at the Coleman Outlet store on clearance for about $16. I like it because it is sturdy and can be used as a seat (with the top on of course!). The bags are almost $2 each in a six pak at Walmart but Jackie and I feel they are worth it for the convenience.

The unit goes outside during the day and inside the T@B at night...would be hard to use in most teardrops. We have a brand new chemical porta-potty that we have never used because we like this one so much.
