8) Good morning all!

Bill....WHAT!!

We is still here...just not as often...you know how that works...jobs, life,
kids, chores, pets, doctors, friends, camping trips, holidays, vacations,
BBQ's, building projects, etc.........................................................

We are still here!! Wow, we have accomplished something!!

Glenn, hope that the tests come out great.

We have our first cool-front scheduled for this weekend...we might get down into the low 80s!! Other then that, we are still hot and sunny in Central Florida.

Later,
Rod

good morning.. grey here.. rain on the way.. raining off and on through Monday... :o

My appointment was good. We are not doing the test [right way anyways] This was a first visit with this Doctor and I think I like him also.

He did talk me into trying meds... :(

He asked what else could I do lifestyle wise. I have lost weight.. I eat well... I exercise a lot.. I supplement wisely.. I have had strokes.. and have a strong family history of this problem... :(

I don't like it.. but understand the need...

I don't like meds, either, but I have one I take every day, and during ragweed season, I take one for allergies. You have to do a "cost/benefit" type of analysis. If a med will lower the risk of another stroke, well, that's a pretty good benefit, since another stroke could keep you from doing the things you love to do.

Do you discuss your supplements with a doctor? There are negative effects associated with a lot of them, just like meds.

yes we did talk of supplements.. He was very much in favor of what I was taking.

yeah I do understand the cost / benefit of this.. and I do need to get my bp under better control.. I have had too many "warning shots" already. Several strokes..and considering.. they have been minor.

I have been going on some perhaps outdated material.. or info.. there are drugs, that do lower your BP.. don't don't end up lowering your risk of stroke.. they can give you side effects.. What the F is the point of them then... !! They just give you a false sense of security.. while making the situation worse. As recent as 5 years ago, I had someone prescribe these. I did end up leaving then and going to someone else.

This recent Doctor did leave the door open, at me possibly getting off drugs at some point. Some of my more significant changes are fairly recent.. and perhaps with time, they will be even more effective.

For example it does not take much weight change to make a difference for me.. and I have recently lost 15 pounds.

A step at a time..

We just got a five minute thunderstorm. What an f-ing tease. No real benefit. All it did was raise our hopes -- and get a lot of people's cars dirty.

Grrrrrrr!

Are you having strokes, or TIAs? My grandmother had several TIAs, and lived to 94. They are very similar, but a TIA doesn't leave lasting damage, where strokes generally do.

:worship: Hi Guys, Hoping all the best for what I lovingly call the "Body Warranty on Your Life". I noticed things started to "go" just after I turned 50. Little, minor annoyances....but enough of an early warning system from your body to tell you something is amiss. Lifestyle changes can make a difference; best to heed doctor's advice and recommendation. Hang in there :eyebrows2: TDN

PS It was 85 degrees.......in my classroom this afternoon!! whew :fan:

They.. at least some of them are not just TIA's. Yet they are affecting smallish area's. The first known one.. hit a nerve that affects one of the muscles to my left eye. It left me with Double vision. I was told the body would heal itself in 6 to 8 weeks.

I did a lot of "work" on it and did correct it sooner.

I do have some lasting neurological stuff from another... some lasting numbness. The last one.. did affect some cognitive functions... balance among other things. I am mostly better now, but the effects were longer than a TIA. I am learning there are a wide variety of strokes and effects. There is another where the symptoms last a few weeks.. others more permanent.

I had definite effects a month after.

I will be 55 in a ...ooh about a week. I have had a variety of weird health stuff.. off and on most of my life. While obviously the BP and Blood sugar issues are a sign of something. I have been feeling great. My lifestyle had been really quite good. There was however room for improvement. While most Doctors would say that I did not really need to lose weight, I knew otherwise... and while I was eating better than most, I have made some changes there.

I don't understand why my blood sugars were high. As I said my weight was pretty good, I ate fairly well, and exercise a lot, I have no blood sugar issues in my family history...

It does look like I have corrected that already.

My BP is considerably better, yet it is still high in the office. I am aware of the white coat syndrome... but the doctor said my bp numbers were way to high for just that.. I am hoping to be drug free with good bp numbers.. but perhaps for now.. I need to do this.
