I don't plan on any major changes, probably won't make any but very minor things. This spring I painted the sides of it. This summer I got different foam for the bed and built a wedge to raise the head of the bed up. A whole lot nicer to sleep in now. And don't have to unhitch to sleep. If I am parked at least level. Next spring will sand the varnish a bit and put on 2 more coats of spar varnish.

Just need to get some frog skins together and start building #2.

I had a major change from my teardrop to this:

It was a change by design and I am happy with it. Not bad to gain $6k and buy for $150. The only thing I don't like is that it is a little tall and I am still not confident on a windy day going 75mph. When a crosswind hits me I have this fear that it will hit the camper so hard that it will rip it apart. I am still not comfortable yet... Once I am camping, it is a great camper and gives me everything my teardrop got me, quick, efficient camping in a tiny camper. Just not "cool" looking, although it does appeal to my country boy side.... I can handle it ;)

2bits, I like it. Makes me wish I had a full sized PU.

Thanks, that's the only reason I got it, and got it so cheap. the guy said he had 30 people come to get it but had a short bed. It is an old school design so I figure I still fit in with the group LOL...

Slow,

I would not buy one with the cabover part either, to me that is way too big. I like to keep things simple. I have not been up to 75 in it yet either. It has never given me a reason to think anything will happen, I am just paranoid is all.

I love my truck though gas mileage and all, I towed my teardrop with it too. I just love old Chevy's. The next plan for it is to get some off road tires to give it that 4x4 look and will enable me to do some rural camping, which is also a nice benefit of not having a trailer. (Yes, I've seen off road teardrops too) After that I am going to install an overdrive transmission which will help that gas mileage!

Hey Thomas, when is something going to happen with that camper you got from your mom? Been wanting to see it or see some results from the remoldel since you first told me about it. Also, like the plan on the land thing and your truck camper.

Hi Slow,

When I found the truck camper it was right after I posted a thread on this forum just for fun tossing around the idea of a teardrop in a truck. After I bought it, I figured that was karma telling me it was time to sell the teardrop. So about a month ago I sold it. It was sold through this forum to a nice woman in Oregon for what I was asking. The only reason I sold it was to get land so I could live out in the woods, and that's the only reason I don't miss the teardrop because it was a good "trade". I actually made an offer on 2.5 ac in the woods TODAY... I am going to call back tomorrow and see what they say. Fingers crossed...

Hey Keith! Good to hear from you man! My mom still has the little standy waiting in the wings for me to work on as my new trailer project. I can't do anything with it until I move though so it will have to wait. I Live in a trailer park right now, but getting out to some land is top priority! Then I can exhale a little get back to doing other stuff! It's a major life change but if all goes well I will have my dream soon, (and no mortgage)....

sorry for the threadjack
Thomas

I removed the dual propane tanks.
Takes a lot of weight off the tongue.
Maybe I will mount a single tank or a spare tire mount. I'm in no rush.

Hmm...
- stain a newly built-out section of the galley shelf
- paint the fenders to match my new color scheme (or my Jeep...could go either way!)
- put a layer of foam matting in the sleeping compartment
- buy a new mattress
- make a quilt for the mattress

I guess my winter to-do list is pretty long. ;)
