Preping and painting Trailer.

Postby Wolfscout » Mon Nov 07, 2011 8:32 am

I'm fixing to bring my camper into a garage I'm renting long enough to prep and paint my CTC.
I was going to put that Dicor Elastomeric RV Roof Coating on top and redo the sides with perhaps some exterior Valspar White flat.
What is really needed preparation wise to do this?
I'm not a painter of any sort and I need this to last as long as possible.
Thanks in advance.

WS, surface prep is EVERYTHING !!! Sanding is used to basically clean and smooth the surface of imperfections ... and give some “toothâ€

What about old joints and seams of the aluminum?
if it's not leaking it's not to be worried over?

I got to put my 2 cents worth in here.
When I was selling auto paint the reccomended procedure was ....
Wash first to remove organic comtaminants, then Prep solvent to remove silacone, wax and grease, then sand.
This keeps you from driving contaminates into the surface to be painted
