Hmm, I never had a problem. Maybe raccoons don't like stinky shoes!

Not when you have two shoulders that have been operated on and one side did not do so well and now there is arthritis in the other. I take it it easy on those puppies

blumie...that is quite the setup!!! I'm trying to figure out how I can do something like that with a 10x10, a side wall kit (all 4 sides...zipper up the middle of one side.) I want some privacy around the door for a privy tent. I'm thinking of modifying the sides and rolling them up during the day and dropping them at night for the privy tent. Or, if we need shade, dropping the sides as needed. I probably only need a curtain from the corner of the trailer over to the corner, then from the corner across the door side part way. Ten I can rig a curtain from the center edge to the middle of the canopy, and slide it from the edge of the 10x10 to the wall of the trailer. That way there is a little enclosed alcove when you open the door to go to the privy tent in the middle of the night.

May have to check into some thrift store finds for tent walls. Maybe even some blankets that match my trailer so they don't look like I'm hanging out the laundry!

Sound like you should include a Mud room.

It does not rain much where we live but when it does. We cover the trailer with a tarp. I have extensions that I added over head So we can stand outside the trailer. We have flat fender skirts and our shoes usually thongs or rain boots sit on the fender skirts. One friend who made his of sheet metal who also had a flat fender skirt said he planed to make a box for his shoes.

Other wise you do have wet jackets and other clothing and you have a place for it or a plastic back to hold it.

One time we did go camping and were not ready for a 2 day down pore of 6.2 inches with a small lake in front of us and we had bought extra tarps at the local store. We left early and found when we got home every thing in the trailer was soaked. We left the Gathering early and spent the night at a relative 4 hours south.
If we had a pickup puller or a SUV we might have gotten around that part of the problem was not only did it all get wet on top of the bedding but the cooler (no room in the car) had the drain plug out and the bedding got soaked as well.

So don't only plan your trailer but our outside protection and what you are going to pull it with. We use a Carolla (very good gas milage). We are looking for a replacement for it. but not many things get 30 + pulling the trailer.

Good luck on your design. It is not as important how well you build your trailer but more how well you plan it out.
