Decommissioning is always a sad sight. Her parts will give new life to a new build, at least she served you well.

Hey Earl

I bet you had a lump in your throat when you started cutting her up. :(
The bright side is she'll be reincarnated into a new build.

That is nice that you shared that. I liked the term "Decommissioned" too, I think that fits. Sometimes you have to put a period on things before you can start a new sentence... metaphorically speaking that is.

Thanks for sharing the final pictures of the Bungalette. It's akin to going to a funeral. RIP

Her parts will become part of a whole once again.

I can't wait to see the new build!!!

I hope it's documented as well...both your new one and your daughter's. It seems like there is a fair amount of rebuilding teardrops...if you built it yourself, lived with it, and learned from it, then there is probably a point where you say "I'm going to do this better" and tear it down and improve.

I'm not doing that with mine. It's pretty close to original, and who knows how many are in this condition anymore. But I respect what Jerry did with his second one...what a nice galley!! What an overall improvement!!

So I get it, it's just kinda sad. Maybe I'm just sad because I really need to get on selling my big trailer and it just kills me to think about it. But if I want my Grasshopper here, I've got to do it.

Can you share a quick summary of using the marine paint? Did you you use Brightside? How did it hold up? What kind of exterior wood did you use? Did you just primer then paint, or was epoxy used? Why did it fail? Could it have used more coats of paint? Sorry for all the questions, just curious with your experience of marine paint, and would you use it again?
Why just dance, when you can Salsa!
