Looking For Modernaire kit

Postby Sailboat Slim » Mon Jan 09, 2012 8:58 pm

I searched thru the forums and online but haven't found what I'm looking for, which is a kit to build a Modernaire style teardrop. When I say "kit" I mean that I want to buy all or most of the parts for the trailer, pre-cut and ready to assemble. I suspect that I may be asking for the impossible. The next best thing would be detailed plans to build one. And, is there a place that I can buy a kit to build a 5' X 10' trailer frame - again, all parts pre-cut and ready to be welded together. Thanks.

Sorry Slim,

And I don't mean to sound Smug, but Modernaire/Modernistic/Dwyer/Cub stopped making Kits for there Trailers at least 6 decades ago.

I think at this point there all out of there box's and assembled.

Ya gotta go Custom!

Happy Trails

First ... Welcome to the forum. I'm just finishing up an extensive design phase for my own Modernaire/Cub build. There are hundreds of builds that are excellent to show you more or less step by step all you need to know to design/build your own.

My suggestion is to download the Generic Benroy Plans at the top of every page in the forum (I know it's not the design you're looking at, but virtually all the concepts are the same.) There are too many great builds to name them all, but my favorite build to look at is Thomas' LT (2bits). Thomas really did a wonderful job and was very thorough at documenting his challenges and triumphs. You can find his build here and here.
