I guess I'll be getting started!

Came up with a platform for a build. It's a Cox brand boat trailer, inexpensive and reputedly a very well built trailer. It is 18'8" O.A. but 7' of that is tongue which I will shorten. It measures 11'8" from the foreward roller to the rearmost and is 4'6" between the fenders. Platform is 21" off the ground and after I remove the rollers I think I will move the springs to the underside of the axle. This will make the hideous fenders look a little less bad but I'm sure before I'm done fenders will be replaced. Design will begin along the lines of a Benroy methinks.I was thinking 4' by 8' but now it will be at least 4'6" by ??? Nothing too long, but maybe 9' or 10'?

In order to get the axle placement correct I think it will simply be a matter of shortening the rear end. It has 13" wheels which I like and a tilt body. Trying to decide if there is any reason to keep that feature?

Perfect.... shorten the tongue, move the tube to the rear to make a place for the bike carrier, add tubes to the sides, for any number of attachments, umbrellas, tables, grill, side cover dressing area,......man nice starting place!!

I figure when I get the design more worked out I will adjust it fore and aft on the frame till I get the proportion right and shorten the rear. I have access to torches and welders even a machine shop so that's not a worry.
I think the walls will be 1/2"ply then3/4 foam then Luan on the inside. Seems like a good compromise weight vs strength. Might cover with canvas depending on how I like the roof joint...
