A bit of snow in England.....

And the country comes to a standstill.

It happens to be Nicola, my wife's birthday today, but she has postponed it to next weekend. Clever girl.

Still, we went for a walk around mid day.

It is not a lot of snow, but there were some lovely scenes and pics to be taken.

I cleared the pat to the shed and garage this morning to to fetch chicken from the freezer.

Looking out over the fields..... white, very white, but still great.

We also saw a buch of farmers with quards, rifles and a large pack of hunting dogs, hear shots and saw blood drops in the snow, which we did not photograph.




So, yes, I do miss a Braai with real Rooikranz wood, and a bit of sunshine, but all this is also great as it broadens ones horizons.

Looks like the snow is over for now, so off to work in the morning.

Here is snow from the beginning of the year from a friend in Alaska. This was there first storm. He has had several more since then.

~50 cm [20"] of Snow around Denver Colorado over the last 2 days. Blizzards out on the Eastern CO Plains shut down the Interstate I-70 in both directions.

There was 130 cm [50"] of Snow just West of us in a Mountain Foothills Town. Because it came around at us from the South - South/East, the Mountain Ski Towns received almost no Snow.

Thanks to the Rocky Mountains keeping it churned up, blazing Sun is back. In contrast to this picture taken only yesterday, cleared Sidewalks and Driveways are already dry. The Storm cleared out mid-day yesterday. Only a dark Sweatshirt is needed with the Solar streaming down at this Elevation. -12 C this morning.

One of your very nice Pix reminded me of where we've stayed repeatedly in a Self Cater: Lagavulin Hall - Islay. Smack between Lagavulin and Laphroiag, of course.

Well, it is good to know that winter is happening somewhere. Here in the midwest there has been virtually no winter to speak of. Here it is, the first Sunday in February and I went to church this morning without wearing a coat or even lite jacket, just a long sleeved shirt. Not that I am complaining.

beautieful pictures . north east pennsylvania has only 2 snowfalls this season . the 11 inch one was in late october . guess the snowshoes will sit till next year.

Well, this is why I moved here. It was in the seventies today. There are dandy lions (sp) and trees in bloom. We would like more rain. I figured I earned this by living in Chicago for thirty some years.

beautiful pictures!! No snow here..although it snowed 3 years ago. It was cold enough to snow a few weeks back, but no clouds. We will get rain in another few days..we need it badly.

I've only seen snow a few times...native Californian here. Fog, rain, earthquakes, 3 digit heat (farenheit)...but have only been in snow maybe 6 times..3 of them freak snowstorms...

It's really pretty to look at, but I don't think it's much fun to live in. Thank you for the pictures.

I always say Californians "go" to the snow..we don't live in it!

There are exceptions, of course!

Love to look at snow pics, especially brilliant ones like those posted here. But gotta say I'll take my early February kayaking in shorts over shoveling snow any day.

Didn't get any pics because I started shoveling late, the sun was going down by the time I finished. Had to dig the cars out with a shovel so that I could get the riding mower out of the garage. Got about 14" which was too much for my plow. It doesn't like anything more than 10". Snowed another inch or so overnight, most of that melted off by the afternoon. Just saw the news and we're supposed to get more.

Basically I don't get snow where I live. But my son sent me a picture from Misawa, Japan where he is stationed with the Air Force.
Last week they got about 2 feet of snow. Here is a picture of his puppy Aki, a 5 month old Shiba Innu, she loves to play in the snow.

Nicola was chuckling, there was a Scottish terrier having fun up on the farm as well, with a load of snow balls attached to its fur.
