Latches

I was thinking of using something like this to latch my roof down to the body. Anyone have a cheaper or better alternative?

This latch only costs a couple dollars more than the one you posted, but its stainless steel and very solid. Had these on my first teardrop and loved them.

Is that price for one or a pair? I sell 'em for $16.50/pair plus $6.00 S&H via USPS Priority Mail.

What are you looking for it to do?
Does it need to be lockable, adjustable, or both?

Kharn....I need both adjustable and lockable. These will be used just like on a popup camper to keep the lid on the box while I travel. I will also be using the trailer to transport my canoe and kayak to the river. The car and trailer will sit on the side of the river all day waiting to see if I drown or not, so it needs to be secure.

Grant....I went back to Amazon and it doesn't say for a pair, so I'm going to assume that price is just one. So I might be contacting you with an order when I get the thing constructed to that point. I'd rather give you the business anyway. I was thinking of using 4 of them, so would the shipping still be $6?

Picture a shoe box. My plan so far is for the roof closing down overlapping the sides of the box by 1.5 inches with 2 latches each side to hold it down. Un-latch the latches, tilt up one end of the roof, put in the back wall with door, and put in the trianglular sides. I'll have to come with something to keep rain driven by highway speeds from working its evil way up under the front edge of the shoe box lid and into my mobile bedroom. This is a design as I go project, no instructions included or required. That's what makes it fun!

When I built my teardrop, I wanted to use the "T" handle with latches like on rear camper shell doors. I called Grant and he told me about the latches you're looking at. I bought both, but ended up taking Grant's advice and using the adjustable ones. They were easy to install and adjust and work great.

Yep ... I can easily fit two pair in a small Flat Rate Priority Mail box! I'll be here when you are ready ... ;) ...!
