Where are all the TnTTT???

Postby Oldragbaggers » Sat Apr 07, 2012 3:12 pm

We just returned from a road trip, over 2000 miles, 7 days, from Baltimore, Maryland to Sarasota, Florida with side trips to Hilton Head and St. Augustine. All the way down and back I kept my eyes peeled on the highway, both passing and on coming, and with the exception of one yellow TAB in a lot off the highway in Georgia I didn't see one single teardrop or tiny travel trailer the whole time. I literally saw hundreds of ginormous motor coaches, fifth wheels and the like. I can't believe, that during spring break and with such beautiful weather that no one was out and about. Are we really that rare a breed???

I keep an eye out and so do the kids. the spot them more than i do but yes its very rare to see ttt. i guess some families like to have thier own space and sit apart instead of being close and snuggly.

Where are all the TnTTT???

Postby Verna » Sat Apr 07, 2012 5:02 pm

Well, my sister and I drove almost 2,600 miles to FL and back last week and the week before. She saw two teardrops before I saw them. That's all. Yes, all of those large RV's, travel trailers and 5th wheels, and only two TD's. Of course, I wasn't 't towing my TD either (color me blushing.....).

I've decided that TDnTTTers are indeed a special, rare breed. :lips: Not everyone has the ingenuity and thoughtfulness nor the patience and craftiness that those on the forum have been graced with. 8)

Additionally, many of the TDnTTTers take shorter trips of maybe 3 or 4 days, plus vacations. A poll was taken, asking how far most of us would be willing to drive to camp on a weekend and most of us said somewhere between 50 and 450 miles, which may mean we're on the road less.

We are on a two week trip right now from upstate NY to Georgia, with several stops along the way. This trip we are using our Uhaul camper rather than the teardrop. We have seen two Scamps and one old Duro TTT, but no teardrops.

We are rare but becoming less so.
And at least for the teardrops I would bet mostly fair weather campers. We would have been out during spring break but weather which the week before would have been great, well, it was not so great.
This summer however I am anticipating a 7,000 mile trip.

Becky,

They were all hidden, at the campgrounds. ;)

I've traveled across the country many times, and it is rare to see them.

I visited sat with the Chesapeake Bay Chapter of tearjerkers and then on the boat on the Nanicoke river in Delaware and Maryland and saw two teardrops from the river crossing the Rt 50 bridge over the river.Larry

Well, I can't wait to add mine to the roadways. We did the hotel to hotel thing this trip since ours is still under construction. Pretty much every evening when we checked in and every morning when we paid the bill we said, "sure wish we had our teardrop!!!"

Rob, I guess the teardrops hide good because they are so small. Come to think of it, hiding good isn't the worst thing.
;)

Larry, how was the Tearjerkers event? Great group of people!!

Becky we left last Friday at 2am and drove to Tx (straight18hrs) and passed 2 tears and 3 older TT on the way. Drove back from Lubbock -Amarillo- OKC-Ft Smith, Ark then Ft Smith-Memphis-Nashville, then Nash- Chattanooga and back to Atlanta. On way back saw 1 TTT and a small motorcycle tear with the HD on a trailer in Arkansas. We didn't take ours because we don't have a hitch for our Nissan Juke yet. All I can say is they were hidden well but this fall we will have ours over in TN alot more as we scoped out alot of state parks and camping along the way.
