well, she didn't make it.

We are taking the new tear out camping for the first time this weekend. Spent last weekend loading stuff into it.

Put Sables kennel in the back of the truck. Made up a new pad for it with memory foam. Sable was going to have her own bedroom, in the kennel inside the camper shell of the truck.

Sable is our “purebred Nevada trailer park” dog. Got her out of a shopping basket in front of Wal-Mart on April 17, 1999. Exactly 13 years ago.

She camped with us in tents, our old 1969 Ideal, the small Vortex toyhauler, and the big Boogie Box toyhauler. A total of 71 camping trips.

Yesterday, Her back end went out from under her again. Dropped to the floor, and had a lot of trouble getting up. Limped to the dog run real slow.

She’s been getting pretty bad, Falling a lot, taking multiple tries to get up from her pillow. Not wanting anyone to touch her on the hips.

We decided it was time. Called the Vet, and took her in.

First trip in the tear will be bittersweet. New trailer, but first trip without our camping dog.

So sorry for your loss!
If she enjoyed camping... look at it as you are going camping again... for HER! She's still gonna be with you and enjoy the time... just not in the exact same way as she used to! Camping shouldn't be a sad thing from now on... it should be in honor of something you all and she liked to do... something familiar to all of you!

I'm very sorry to read of your loss. You never know where your best dog will be found. Your's came from a Walmart shopping cart. Mine came from a laundry basket at a flea market in Texas. We were not looking for a new pet, but we could not leave her there. So we handed the lady the 5 bucks she wanted and drove "Molly" 1300 miles home. She made the trip in a picnic basket that my wife had bought at the flea market. My point is, we never know where our next "best Friend" is going to come from. It took me awhile to get another dog. But we rescued 2 dogs over the past 2 years and one has become my camping buddy. My hope is that you to will find another camping buddy to fill the void that Sable has left.

So sorry to hear your puppy (in love years) cannot share your teardrop adventures. It will be a loss, but from the sounds of it she had a great life with you all. I didn't realize you had gotten your teardrop! Congrats. What did you get and where are you taking it? Yea, another Nevada teardrop. you can bring up to Unionville or to Cabelas this summer! :applause:

So very sorry for your loss. Cherish all the good times and know she had a better life with you than she could have had with anyone else. Keep your heart open because when you least expect it God will place a new angel in your care. Bless you for giving all your love to your purebred Nevada trailer park.

I, too, am sorry for your loss. A dog's life is so very short…. All we can do is our best and hope that it is enough. She knows she was -and still is- loved and that you did everything you could for her, to see to it that her short life was a rich one. Please take solace in this and in your memories.

So sorry for you loss
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals that had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together

Sam, I'm really sorry for your loss. Sables definitely left pawprints on your heart. Remember the good times, camp as though Sables is still with you, because she still is.

I like Kirkman's message....that's sure the way I hope to find Speckles, Sunshine, Snickers, Sawdust, and the rest......
