OTtCP,

I venture into the people's republic of California with extreme caution. I was born and raised there, moved out in 79 following job and housing opportunities that lead me to the northwest states. I return with caution. My mum lives in Nevada but all my in-laws, as well as my daughter, son-in-law, and grand kids live in California, Napa Valley to be exact. I hate going there but what's a person to do who has to visit? Guns will stay at Mom's house in Nevada. I dispise being unarmed but will not break any laws of any state. I respect that state laws do as their citizens deem appropriate but find California's laws are rather stupid and self defeating, as are the majority of residents of the state. But who am I to judge. I am an ex... And very happy ex resident of that once great state.

Big Daddy Don

You can bring your guns   Not sure how to transport like a shot gun but I would just assume thats its required to be unloaded.
For a handgun it must be in a locked case and unloaded "no rounds in the chamber", but you can have loaded magazine in the in the same case
and for some strange reason it can't be in the glovebox.... rest of the car is ok
To be on the safe side only bring magazines with 10 rounds or less
so you just need to practice unlocking & loading your gun a few times.

If you want we can meet in Richmond and practice
they will never suspect 2 white guys, in that area

We can just put neighborhood watch decal on the truck :FNP

You just have to be on a very careful lookout for the Revenue Enhancement Officer & his Laser Gun

OTTCT.

OMG! Been on the road for the last couple of days then tending to Mom and only today got to read this. LOL! A couple of white guys in Richmond drawing no suspicion? :frightened: I was born in Richmond and know what it is today. :R

Had some Jeep problems hauling the CT. Both the Jeep and the 6x10 CT were very heavily loaded, and I mean very heavy. On the final mountain pass from Carson Valley to Lake Tahoe we experienced transmission over heating and had to stop and let the tranny cool for an hour before proceeding at a pace of 30mph over the remainder of the pass. Looks like I need an auxiliary tranny cooler, or a big ass new truck. :worship: Still, we made it and are now here in Tahoe. Will post some photos as I get the chance.

Had a good shot at testing the single hose "Fat Daddio's" cake pan converted to dual hose a/c unit in Winnemucca, NV in 94 degree heat upon arrival. It performed great. Upon arrival the internal CT temp was 90 plus degrees as we were unloading and setting up to spend the night. Plugged in the a/c unit, turned it on and In about 40 minutes it was down to 77 inside the CT. Cool Runnings.

Hey Big Daddy Don

Here now finally I posted the pictures on my blog of how I converted a single hose - 4 intake vents LG unit into a duel hose.....
I hope you don't mind I stole and reposted some of your pictures, but I did give you and Shadow Catcher full credit & links to your threads
so hopefully they will see all your stuff too..... :applause: :applause:

I posted about 20 - 40 pictures of what I did posted in 3 parts - with my small 7,000 Btu LG ac
& also a window unit I installed on the roof.

Thanks again to you and Shadow Catcher .........
Feel free to steal some of my ideas too.....

Now I need some hot weather to see how well the LG conversion works :worship: :worship:

P.S. now you just need to have your 40 gallon CT water tank go to your secondary tyranny cooler
and when you get to your camping spot you will have 200 deg - 40 gallons hot water

No thanks

I have a house in CCPI & my trailer over there would need an 8 ton AC :x :x :x

I'm only a good Winter Texan :D :D at best !!

Texas would be a great year round place if they could sell about 30 deg of the summer heat to the Arabs

We get alot of Winter Texans (snow birds) coming thru. :vroom: We don't mind. :money: If we sold 30 deg to the Arabs, we'd be over populated and broke like Kalifornia is. We don't have enough water for all the folks moving in as is.

Sure do enjoy the ingenuity and brain storming that is shared here!

Ditto that!

Life in Lake Tahoe is tolerable compared to the 100 plus heat of elsewhere. We're getting our bearings and enjoying doing so.

More later,

OTTCT,

We're only insinuating that CA is broke because it is. 8) I am here in the land of fruits & nuts on the left coast and I see it everywhere. The once great State I was born in is a poor shadow of itself compared to back in the 50's, 60's, 70's, & 80's. I am still trying to figure out why CA folks elected Moonbeam Brown back as Governor when he failed so miserably the first time around. I believe that is the definition of insanity i.e., 'Keep doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result."

Oh well, it's still a great state to visit, truly beautiful country, I'm just glad I don't live here anymore. :worship:

Hi Don,

When you installed your two hoses thru the floor for your portable a/c what did you use to cap them with so that you don't get any water coming back up from the wet roads?

thanks,

Mike

OTTCT,

Who in the heck would move to Ohio? Been there plenty of times in my previous career, not to mention my stints as a shootist at Camp Perry. Beautiful country to see and visit, vacation/camping spots to die for, tons of incredible history, but horrid weather. Hot and incredibly humid in the summer, cold and damp in the winter. Nice though, in spring and fall.

Dude, San Jose sucks. :R Bumper to bumper crazy impolite idiot drivers... don't stomp on the gas within .005 seconds of a light turning green you get barraged by honking horns. But then again, I welcome the Chinese. They stimulate the Korean vendors/shop keepers/store owners who in turn stimulate the Hispanic labor market, which in turn stimulates the dopers... to the extent they can be stimulated at all... but then again, they can walk, ride, or trip to a convenience store nearby to address their munchie craves. Yep, it works for all all the way around. Folks in San Jose have it made. :?

OMG did I just say that? :frightened:

BTW, I am here/there. Tahoe is little more than an extension of San Jose. These people are crazy, and I am not talking about the locals.

Mike,

The original hole through the floor that is oblong in my photos was capped with a cap supplied with the A/C unit but it isn't really water tight. I will have to address that at a later time. The 4" hole I bored in the floor for the inlet will also have to be addressed by me at a later time. It will likely be a hinged spring loaded door as suggested by a forum member. Due to the haste of my exit to tend to my Mom I didn't have time to adequately address the capping issues. I hope I don't live to regret that. If you come up with any suggestions please provide them. At this point (away from home for too many months) I can use all the help I can get.

Thanks,

Don
