Wow that trailer for free? I'd also say you found a gold mine... That 3way fridge alone is probably 1k. Lights, stove, microwave, waterheater. The list goes on. You just picked up about 3k worth of stuff for your new trailer..

Thanks guys. I think I will be selling that 3 way fridge and replacing it with an all elect dorm size. It's just not in my plans to have it. The only gas I'll have is for the stove and oven. Water heater is gonna be elect on demand water heater to save space, I'll plumb that for hot water to the sink as well.

Today I brought the donor home and the tear down process will start Sunday in the mean time I'll be doing insulation work as well and running worse, elect sockets and relocating light fixtures to suit my needs. I feel like an over excited cocker spaniel, so happy I just wanna P everywhere......lol.

I don't know man I might would really think about that. The all electric dorm is ok I guess. But a 3 way is so much better for camping since you can keep it running while on the road and it will run for a very long time on a single gas bottle if needed.. I wouldn't go with an electric water heater.. Even more so for a tankless electric. It will need a ton of power. I've got a friend that went that route in his factory made toyhauler and he regretted it instantly on his first trip.. His trailer kept tripping the breaker at his camp site and they were unable to take showers. His new trailer now has Gas. A RV water heater takes up very little space. Besides you already have one!

I have found an elect. tankless water heater on eBay thats 120v, 2gpm, with endless HOT water. I do not intend on keeping anything in the frig when were hauling, the frig is not going to be used that way. It'll be used when we arrive on location, unload our Wheelers and plug the EC to a power source.

So you are going to pack a cooler with food and ice, arrive to location, plug into electricity, and unpack cooler?

Hmmm, why do the work twice preparing and then repeat on trip home. That is performing the task four times. Waste of time and energy.
Guaranteed you will also have a weekend with no shore power.

Consider installing the RV fridge, huge time saver. If you are able to leave CT plugged in during week, fridge can remain stocked. Another huge time saver.

This ET will solely be used to haul our 4 wheelers to and from the places we ride. Luckily for us, the farthest place is 1 1/2 hrs away I'm trying to keep it as simple inside as possible, yet user friendly and have room to haul our toys. I have considered using that 3 way fridge, and have thought about packing/unpacking a cooler everytime we go out to ride. I think your correct, it's going to be a major hassle and pain in the butt to get it done like that.

3 way is the best!! Good score. When we had one we would plug it in and cool it down. Load it just before we left. As long as you don't open the doors it would stay cold for a long time running on 12v traveling. When we got there, depending on whether we had shore power or not we would run it on propane or 120v. Options are great!!

I have the opportunity to get metal building insulation for free. It'll be enough to insulate the roof and walls. It's a R-11 rating 3" thick. Would this be a wise decision to install this is my et?

You can get r-18 for that thickness. IMHO r value for width is more important than savings as insulation is not that expensive, especially with as little as you will use. Plus, I would wonder how carcinogenic that stuff might be. I am rather concerned about this point as it is such a small space.

If its like whats in my shop, Then its just 3" fiberglass with a platic/foil backing.. I wouldn't use fiberglass in a trailer because of the vibration..

Ok, picked up my pieces and parts from that donor camper yesterday. Looks like I'll be insulating the inside sometimes very soon, then placing all this inside to make it as usable as possible to suit our needs.

As far as that goes, you do not need to use the gas, if that is a worry. Just hook it up as 12 VDC/120 VAC refrig. The 3 ways insulated better than a dorm frig. Like others have said, packing coolers then loading the frig when you get there seems like a waste of time. Not to mention having to wait for the refrig to cool back down everytime.

My last camping trip (first with the CT), I had everything loaded in the frig by Wednesday, left out Saturday morning. Got there, parked the trailer and plugged in. I was using a dorm refrig that I threw 4 large Fiji water bottles in the freezer (just because they are square). After 4 hours on the road, temp was still in mid-30's. I think you hit the motherlode with the donor camper. I would use as much of it as possible.

Gotta second others on the hot water heater as well. The little electric demand ones that I saw on ebay were 2400-3600W which means that alone they draw 20-30A. Temp rise at 1/2 gal per minute was in the area of 33-45 degrees, meaning that if the inlet water was 55F (pretty common), then the best case would be water at 88-95 degrees coming out at 1/2 gal/min. Even less if you wanted hotter water. Definitely not hot enough to kill the cruddies lurking on dishes. We currently heat over a stove, but I am planning on getting a heater such as the ez-therm 110, and just hanging it on the side of the trailer, that way no internal plumbing issues can occur.
