Nicola and I were doing a shopping loop today, manly charity shops. Starting at Rochester High street, then to Chatham High high street where we also had lunch in a small Turkish restaurant followed by Strood to go grab some groceries at the new ALDI's.
In Rochester Oxfam we found this clock.....
It is an IGNATZ FLYING PENDULUM CLOCK by HOROLOVAR
They were originally made in the 1880's and then again between 1965 and 1975..... so this one is a minimum of 37 years old.
It is in unused condition, and still has its original Made in West Germany box and packaging and pamphlets.
Wonder what it is really worth out there.
Paid waaaaayyyy too much for it though.

A flying pendulum clock is a clock that uses a flying pendulum escapement mechanism. A small metal ball, connected by string wraps around one brass post, then unwinds before repeating on the other brass post.
The flying pendulum clock was invented and patented in 1883 by Adler Christian Clausen and J. C. Slafter in Minneapolis.[1][2] The clock was later called the Ignatz Flying pendulum clock after a character in the Krazy Kat comic.[1] It has been called "the craziest clock in the world" due to the motion of the escapement.[1]
