Growing familys

Was wondering what you do when your family grows and not everyone will fit in a trailer...

I personally haven't had that issue, but I would think it would depend upon the ages of the children, and both your (and their) comfort level on having an external tent for them, vs. not.

If not comfortable with a tent, I know I've seen builds here where instead of an internal shelf for duffels, etc., instead it's a shelf for the child. Or the CampInn Raindrop, where it's longer but has bunks for kids.

If you start them early camping in tents, then as they grow older they don't mind. You spend your whole day with them, then night time comes they have there own space from mom and dad.....

It's very simple, we never told the kids about the trailer. Screw em, they can stay home with their drama while we have a great time

We bought a second trailer.
The kids are grown though, and are capable of pulling the trailer themselves.

If you attach the tent to the teardrop and leave a window or door open from the trailer into the tent, I would think it would be pretty safe. Mom and Dad could hear what is going on and yet have the comfortable bed that older bones need. If the kids are too young for that, a bunk above the parents' feet has been done a few times. Ingenuity reins in this group of camping people.

Kids love tents! All three of mine started their tent camping lives at 6 mo. old.
Until the were about 4 they used to like to sleep with mom and dad in one tent, but when they were older they just loved the fact they had there own tent. When my daughter( youngest of the three) was around six she moved into her own tent so she would not have to sleep with her two older brothers (8 & 10). Thus we became a three tent camping family!
Has taken us until retirement to get a teardrop.
The next phase will be taking the grandkids! They too will sleep in a tent if they want to come camping with grandma and grandpa!!!

Next year, we are going to let them try using a vehicle.
Back when they were home we had a p/u camper and the kids liked to sleep in a tent outside, away from the geezers.

If you go to TCTeardrops Flicker photo page #3, and scroll down to the bottom, there's some photos of smaller children in the "upper berth"---complete with Xmas tree and presents. I'm assuming the parents sleep with their heads towards the opposite (doors) end.

hahahaha the cars aren't the problem just the sleeping arrangements as we can only haul probably one trailer, not sure how she feels to haul a second trailer but I'm working on a tiny house idea for my truck...but this is going to get interesting
