I came across this simple tip for cutting foam panels. Just making our job building trailers easier.

That's ace! It's always nice to see the lateral way of doing something that really works - I want to try this.

My equivalent is to use an electric (meat) carving knife to cut upholstery foam. Other tools really struggle but in foam this really is the hot knife through butter.

That really is genius! I'll certainly give it a try when it comes time.

And I'll second Andrew's suggestion to use an electric carving knife for cutting polyurethane or latex foam for upholstery. They can be found in the kitchen appliance section at Wally World for about $18, and they really do work like a hot knife through butter. A lot of beginning upholsterers use them for this purpose because they're a LOT cheaper than a foam saw ($175 and up.)

Neat - today I used my table saw to cut some blue foam insulation board - worked pretty well. I needed some 1 inch thick pieces, but the hardware store was out of 1 inch - so I went with two layers of 1/2 inch - which meant that I had to make each cut twice. The table saw worked as expected with little foam dust being generated. :twisted:
