Well I came to my senses and decided to ditch the 1/2" CDX deck and inner fender wells and rebuild it all out of 3/4" ACX. I never really liked the 1/2" and finally decided to do the rebuild. I will hopefully knock it all out this weekend. I am constructing it differently too. I'm running a single sheet down the middle and lap jointing small pieces on the frame/body extensions...

Thanks Oni :)

The floor is glued, drilled and bolted, fender wells are glued and screwed. I also cut some foam out for the mattress. I'm going to use the foam shown and probably 1" of dense foam under it.

2" lap joint at the extensions:

First pocket holes! The Kreg jig works awesome...

That's it for this weekend... Hopefully I can get the other wall cut out this week...

Made some good progress this weekend. The entire bulkhead/galley got mocked in place and i got the front bulkheads cut out as well. I threw the foam back in to check room... its quite roomy on the inside...

On to the pics:

The lower galley bulkhead sits in a routed slot on the bottom of the counter and in the floor deck:

I am making a few of changes on the fly but everything seems to be coming together...

More later......

Major mockup work today. I got the rest of the 3/4 cut so i threw it all together...

It looks pretty close to the 3D model. Almost like I planned it that way :)

Looks small from the outside

There's enough room for my friend and both our kids in there comfortably. Not to sleep of course but for getting out of the weather to play cards or whatever the 4 of us fit fine...

Some more routing and predrilling all the holes this weekend and i should be ready to glue and screw the main parts together soon...

I'm excited to get this far...

Looks great!

What is the height of your frame (bottom of frame to the ground)?

Thanks Miriam

More progress. I have the entire skeleton glued and screwed now and I had a momentous occasion today. I cut a door out 8) Pretty excited about that. I rough cut the opening with the jig saw and then edge trimmed it with the router. I also love my Kreg jig too. makes framing go pretty quick. Laying down in there is really comfortable. There is a ton of room. I'm really happy with the interior dimensions. Those 1x2 roof spars were pretty flimsy so i tied them together with some diagonal braces and it stiffened them up a lot. I'm not worried about the roof flexing at all now.

That looks sweet. You be sure to add your album to the Hall of Fame, okay?

Looking good man.

You are zooming right along on these nice warmish early winter Idaho days we have been having. Almost the perfect building weather. Untill you have to put on paint, varnish, epoxy ets.

See you round the camp fire

Thanks Wolf - I'm really diggin this warm snowless winter we are having. Makes it easier to get some stuff done. Epoxy and paint will probably have to wait or i'll need a big a$$ heater for the garage :)
