Tommy, that is way more than you should pay.... You can get good kits for much less. In fact, I have brackets for you I bought and never used. These aer the pieces.. and the panel is a high quality monocrystalline.. Can mount on roof or side as you choose. Also, well need to buy some good 6 or 8 gage wire to solder up to those connectors to attach to battery, then we can use the extra ones to make "jumpers: if you want to extend them out somewhere on the ground... up to you. They have the flexible panels for $169... could get one of those instead of the rigid ones... all else is the same. Look at the links.. what you see below is $153 plus tax... then figure about $25 for some good quality wire.. will be less that $180 with misc.. of course... at the end of the day, you have to like what you get.. not sure why they are getting $400 for than kit...

Yes that's better. The better half would never approve of 500 plus believe me. Thank you. I will review those links and order the stuff. Soon I hope.

I ran a cord out to the C.T for now as 12.5 volts is getting low. Had to do something.

Turned on the AC blower fan and I heard a crack/snap sound and it vibrated like hell on medium to high. This happened once before and it took me a while to find the problem. Mud dobbers have build a big nest on the motor shaft and back side of the big pulley. Again!

Bottom line. I will pull it around front soon to hopefully install the solar, fix the AC and install a new awning fabric as mine is shot. I will let you know Don When I have every thing but will double check my order with you prior to placing it.

Drained old gas from ATV and went over it. 10-12 weeks and we may be back in the forest again!

Thank you big time Don. Be in touch shortly.

Hey Don I am ready to place my order now, but...

I would prefer ridged and on the roof permanently but I see no way of doing that with out screwing into and through the roof and into the supporting cross beams? The awning may be in the way for any side brackets. See previous pics above. Please.

The flexible one would work easy but it gets way to hot up there. You really could fry an egg sometimes and I don't see that flexible panel holding up too long up there. Some one on amazon reported one shorting and burning through and into there rubber roof.

Can we mount that ridged one roof top? With out screwing into the roof. Please let me know and I will place the order today.

It could maybe mount/hinge right under that awning tube. I might use chains instead of long pole to support when folded down. maybe up front under the Haulmark logo?

WHAT WOULD DON DO?

Thanks Again, let me know!

Tommy, I don't see any way to mount on the roof without a few screw holes. If you use dicor tape and the lap sealant, you are not going to leak. I have some ideas to minimize the screw holes. If you want, give me a call this evening and we can toss around some ideas.

Well considering it all I will get the ridged then. Awesome. I have added 2 tubes of dicor sealant and am going to order the tape also, Dicor is 44.00 and this one is 50.00.
It comes in 2 inch x50 feet and 4 inch by 50 feet. I'm guessing 4 inch would be better.

4 or 2 inch? and that will do it. Just let me know.

I have not ordered mounting brackets as you said you had some. Just info.

plz let me know on the tape.

This will be a really cool upgrade.

up to $225.00 now less the 10guage wire and solder stuff. :shock. That tape is pricey but necessary. I can see 4 inch wide tape would be the way to go.

shopping cart is full just need to pull the trigger.

have to bring the warden in on this. :frightened:

Don't want to see this!

Tommy, the dicor tape I am taking about is the same stuff used tp seal the windows. Not the $55.00 roll. It is more like a putty tape.

BUTYL Tape! I have tons. Check on the one tube of dicor.
Down to $183.00

I think she eased the hammer down. She's pointing it at the floor now. :worship: I should be ok here! I think.

Placing the order now. Will let you know when it all arrives. By Thursday I think but no rush to install. When you have time Don. I will be in touch shortly I hope.

Thanks for you guidance.

I am heading to Buffalo NY on business Thursday and will be back Sunday...I have a off Day Friday August 4 and Saturday August 5. I'd be glad to come over and help you get it all installed and hooked up one of those two days (whatever works best for you) . The whole job should only take 2 hours. Will that work? I have the brackets...

I will draw a pic of what I was thinking for the roof mount..The good thing with your CTC is that there is no ceiling installed yet. We don't necessarily have to hit the aluminum joists or frame.. we can install some wood between joists and anchor into that... I have tons of scraps.. In any case... there are a few ways to do it.. My idea is to install two rails rails that go across the roof in the area before it curves and just far enough apart for the solar cell to span, and then the solar cells screw into the rails. If you go back to my old build and this one, that is how I did it, except my roofs had/have square edges and I screwed the rails into the very edge part of the roof frame. We will only need a total of 4 less than 1/4 in holes since we can install nuts and locking hardware on the rails from the inside. (we can make a trip to Home Depot together the day we install to get the misc. hardware for the rails... should be <$25.00 and I may already have most of it)

You will like having that panel. I will keep your battery topped off and extend the useful life of it when parked for sure and at least extend the usage of it when boondocking with the fridge running so gen time will be down to a minimum when camping (maybe not needed on a real sunny day depending on shade).

BTW, I think we should install in such a way that if you ever decide to buy a second panel ... it will be just plug and play and no additional drilling into your roof (only into rails) or wiring needed except some "Y" connectors you can order on line for <$10.00 and install in 10 minutes. That is literally what I did when I bought a second panel for my previous build when I also bought the second battery.

This is a disease you know... you just have to know when to walk away. ;) ;)

Edit: Tommy, almost forgot.... we need a hole to get the wires in and since you do not have a refrigerator vent... the following is one way and water tight using the same Butyl tape and dicor lap sealant. You may think of another way without penetrating the roof (side or etc..) but the two wires got to get inside to controller somehow.

AUG 5th Saturday. Book it!

Thank you. What can I say.

If for some reason the order is further delayed I will let you know. The panel and dicor to arrive tomorrow but the other stuff said delayed.

Anytime of the day. But when I tell the wife two hours she would laugh. Last time I said that it was all day. :D

What you said about the prep for two panels. YES! lets do that. I may, may even just get another panel as the dometic fridge really can eat up the battery when the trailer is warm or hot. Would I need to order a few more brackets?

Yes I have the disease.

oh yes I will order the cable hole cover. just like the pic

Tommy, I'd recommend just the one cell with the one battery to see how it does. Adding another cell will be easy the way we will install it. At that time you may decide to upgrade to an additional battery and panel. You have the nice generator in any case to bail you out as needed in the meantime... besides, your wife may let you live then to fight another day. :-)
