Thanks Cliff

Like some people on here say (they never really get finished), so the best I can hope for is camp-able.

Here are a few pics of my fenders in place, Earl (loader) helped me out on this. I decided not to flip my axle so I was able to use the brackets that came with the harbor freight square fenders. I'm still gonna drill through the fenders inner flange and the frame and use bolts there too for added stability. The reason I decided not to flip the axle is because I'll be towing down some mean haul roads (peabody coal mines) and I'll need the extra clearance.

Well vacation is over now and the camp critter is still not campable. :( I decided not to use outdoor carpet adhesive for the aluminum skin, instead I ordered some 3m 4200 adhesive/sealant and it still hasn't come in yet. I did get alot done though and I guess all I need to do now is skin it, trim it, and put the windows and door on, the diamond plate up front and apply the decals and it'll be done. I'll cross my fingers and just maybe I'll be done with it before my next vacation which is in the middle of september. Maybe then I'll actually get to use it.
Here is a pic of the skin temporarily in place. It has a pink protective film on it, it will actually be white.

I painted the fenders the same color as the frame. It doesn't look to awful bad for a rattle can job.

Image
I hate annealing aluminum but I am getting alittle better at it. Here is a pic of the hatch lid offset trim I made.
Image
Here are the decals I'll put on it when I get done, which I hope is soon.

Larry,

The red fenders look great! They'll go really well with the red frame and white aluminum.

You did an excellent job with annealing the aluminum! I had thought about doing so on my teardrop - I really like the "old school" look of exposed fasteners - but chickened out in the end.

I think you'll be happy with the 3M 4200. It is quite thick (is viscous a better word?). Get yourself a decent caulk gun. Once you open a tube of it, you need to use it all up, so have everything ready to go.

Take care,
Tom

Hey Earl

I had those decals made at a local sign and printing shop here in my home town. The original image I was going to use for the knight decal had a copyright so they put together another image of it using non copyright images. In other words they (frankensteined) other images to make the decal. That decal is 18"x24" and I'll put it on the hatch lid. The small campcritter decals will go on each side.

Hey Tom

Thanks for the heads up on using the 3m 4200. I'll make sure I have everything ready before I start using it. I also need to get another caulk gun because the one I've got now is pretty crappy. As far as those annealed trim pieces, they're fair I guess. It's 1" angle and I couldn't get all the ripples out of it. I decided I'll use 3/4" angle for the rest of the trim. It should be easier to bend.

Thanks, I'll just be glad to get it finished. It seems like I'm always pushing the completion date back.

Larry,

Looking good! Nothing wrong with the red paint job on the fenders. Are you allowed to have a red & white trailer in Western KY? Didn't realize there were any IU fans allowed in KY  Just kidding my friend!

You're closer than I am, keep up the good work.

Hey guys thanks for the comments.

Hey Whitney, If I were to accidentally cut myself, blue blood would get everywhere. My wife informed me that the red and white color is her high school colors.

Hey mister Bob Henry,
You informed me in a different thread about this same thing. I'll try not to lose this memo ok.
