Hi Becky,
Up until a few weeks ago, I hated my jigsaw too. A few weekends ago, I discovered my orbital jig saw was set incorrectly. Once I stopped it from 'orbiting', my cuts were a lot better. Now, cutting plexiglass is like cutting should be... nice and straight with very little cleanup.

But, I had found my router cleaned up a lot of my jig saw imperfections and I'm really happy with my door edges. When needed, I can trim 1/64 off with the aid of a very long straight edge. I'm new to using a router, but I do love it.

If you look at my photos, realize my walls and doors are NOT permanently mounted yet. It allows me to run the router over the edges when needed by still laying them flat on the floor. I won't make them permanent until I get all of my routering completed. I don't think I have the ability to do that on a vertical wall.... Just wish I could lay my walls flat before I paint them to avoid the inevitable sags.

All the best.

Thanks Jim for the info. I will check the settings on my jigsaw and see if that is where I am going wrong. I use my router for cleanup all the time. I have used it horizontally, vertically and even upside down when I cleaned up the inside edges of my vent opening. I don't know how I would have gotten this far without it.

Hi, Becky:

I hope you don't think that nobody is watching because they are. If you look at the relationship of the number of posts to the number of views, you'll see it:

136 posts vs 5694 views

I'm sorry that I didn't post sooner but, being lazy, I was waiting for a correction to your June 11th posting. The pictures weren't showing for some reason. Then, I forgot. I finally remembered and went to your album for a look-see. You're still doing good. The cabinet framing is almost complete and the cabin doors are on!

It looks like all you need to make it camp-able, if you wanted to try it out, is the galley hatch! Everything is looking nice and neat.

Thanks everyone for your encouragement and nice comments. It goes a long way!!

I've been working on my galley lately which is very satisfying for me (I was out in the garage varnishing until almost 10:00 PM last night). It's slow for me though, I'm no carpenter, so I will wait until the progress is a bit more evident to post more pictures. It think it will be quite attractive for a simple galley though. Varnish does wonders to bring out the beauty in wood.

Looks like we are both building Benroys. Looks great so far. I too am looking forward to some cabinet building. It will be my first time building cabinets, wife got me a Bosch Router and a Bench Dog router table for my birthday. I know, I know greatest wife ever... :R Also picked up a Kreg pocket screw jig. Used both tools already, they are awesome.

The Kreg jig and the router make a huge difference don't they?? I am using them both a lot. I had never used a router so much before, but there is nothing else that will put such a nice edge on plywood as a router. And the Kreg jig makes the project go so much faster (with "fast" being a relative term for me, sort of like saying "speedy snail"). No clamping and waiting for glue to dry. :beautiful:
