Hello ,

This is the last post for this build thread. If anyone is wanting updates they will need to visit my husband's build thread on the Expedition Portal ( see link at bottom of this post). There are unposted pics on my gallery for those who are interested. We may see some of you at the Montaineers Fall Foliage Gathering in October. I'd like to thank everyone who has replied to my posts, special thanks to Sharon Heisley for your enthusiasm and encouragement, and of course ,Captain Monkeyshines- maybe we can share a bottle of rum sometime. :eyebrows:

Here's to plans made real. :wine:

I love how the sketch up and the real deal match. The CrowsWing turned out to be sweetness on wheels! :beautiful: I can't for the life of me understand why you have so many views and so few replies....makes no sense to this monkey. :?

I'm very saddened to hear (see? read?) that this is the end. my friend, I find I have quite enjoyed your build, and your witty commentary. Thank you for posting what is the absolute bestest offroad glamping camper build ever!

I just got back from the ABC store with a big bottle of the Captains Private Stock.....what are your plans for the weekend? :cheerswine:

Forty Two?
Is that the answer to the meaning of life question? :R

Great build you guys. I guess the only left to do is to modify the height of your garage door.

It only took 7-1/2 million years and Deep Thought to get the answer!

Hello again,
The Crowswing is finished (for the most part). Instead of working in the garage this past fall, I have been busy on my computer making a book as a gift for my better half. I used the website blurb.com. For anyone interested in making and even publishing their build, I found this site to be very user friendly and the resultant book well made. Here is a link to the book I made, it includes a preview:

http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/3689471

The books are a little pricey since they are printed as each one is ordered rather than in bulk, but ebook versions of any book you make are reasonable.

Again Elizibeth, you do excellent work! :applause:

Thanks for the link to the "build a book" site. I'm sure others will be interested in doing the same. Your husband is gonna love it.

Re: CrowsWing , Back in Black

Postby Elizabeth C. » Tue Jun 18, 2013 8:48 pm

Hello eveyone,
Its been many months since the last post on this thread. I though the CrowsWing was mostly done, I guess I was wrong. There always seems to be something else that needs tweaking or redesigned. Don't get me wrong, working on this trailer is one of my favorite pastimes, but at this point I wonder if it will every be 100% done. It's more like evolution then a build. Any way here's an update (in pictures).

Image
Old Porch light set-up. Worked okay but was clunky. Adjustable to shine out, down, or behind trailer.

Image
New set up. Simpler design, now adjustable to shine 360 degrees.

Image
This light mount was assembled from an aluminum pipe flange and bushing from McmasterCarr and various other parts.

Image
New drop leg jacks used as stabilizers on the front of the trailer. Very helpfull in leveling trailer.

Image
Jack in up position.

Image
Drawer dividers purchased from Amazon.

Image
Knife rack I built after seeing one at the First landing Teardrop Gathering that Jim and Jamie made for their Camp-inn trailer.

Image
Simple paper towel holder, made from leftover stuff. The weight is a pendant that my hubby gave me that was too heavy to wear.

Image
Adjustable drawer divider system, also made with leftovers. Finished with spar varnish.

Image
Cutting board/ work surface. made from a Paula Deen's cutting board that just happened to be the exact right size .It is supprted by aluminum c-channel attached to the sides of the cabinet (also leftover). It can be removed completely to be used on a table.

After loading these pics I realized I forgot to take pictures of the Television we installed in the cabin. Now my camera batteries are dead so it will have to wait. :(

There are still more things to do. I need to attach extra braces for the awning, which works great unless there is a strong storm with an updraft, then it wants to fold on itself. For now we just use guy lines to keep that from happening, but I want it to be totally attached to the trailer with no need for ropes. I would like to make snap on awnings to attach to the galley area to keep rain from blowing in on my stove when I am cooking, kind of like the windscreens on the Camp-inn trailes. Of course there is also the plan to move the axle forward 4" so that it is centered in the fenderwell, like it should have been right from the start.etc,etc. Phew! Just thinking about it makes me tired.

The good thing is we have gone 4518 miles and spent 21 comfy nights in it so far. Its has been so worth the (never-ending) work.
