Nautical Wheeler II

Postby PapaJ » Thu Apr 01, 2010 8:57 am

I've decided to go with the Weekender, after the difficulties I had with Nautical Wheeler I. (Although dismantling NW I with a sledge hammer was rather cathartic :) )

For the past week or so, I've been removing some rust, putting on primer and paint, rewired the lights, (Lighting Kit was on sale at Harbor Freight for
$19.95), and put on the braces on the back of the trailer.

Off to Home Depot to buy the plywood for the floor.

And we're off----again!

:designing:

Pictures to follow-

Build Update 4/3/10

Postby PapaJ » Sat Apr 03, 2010 8:49 pm

I think I made some good head way this weekend.

Got the new lights installed, the two support legs in the back, the "sub basement" (if you will,) cut out most of the frame and doors, hopefully I will finish cutting out the frame tomorrow before I have to go back to work.

See the pictures in the album.

Also, I borrowed a page of the design from Mike and someone else. I hope I haven't violated any copyright laws.

It's Miller Time

Thanks, it's just a damned shame this work stuff keeps getting in the way of stuff I really want to do!

Build Update 4/22/10

Postby PapaJ » Thu Apr 22, 2010 7:52 pm

I've had a bout of bronchitis the past couple of weeks but finally got a little time on the build. Let's hear it for Daylight Savings Time. :applause:

Pictures are in the album and on Facebook. :snappy:

Spent a lot of time placing the A/C and decided on the back of the trailer. The part covering the back of the A/C will drop on a hinge.

I did a little more of the framing and a few other things.

Time for Fringe.

 :applause: :applause: Looks like great progress! How much head space do you have now? I can't tell how you have the box attached. Did you use some sort of bracing?

You do have some speed there.

Will be watching this one too.
Greetings from England.

Rian.

Hoping to get it all done in time.

You have to attach the box???????????????

Sub floor is bolted to the trailer, box is attached to the subfloor and frame.
If I don't raise the floor, I have 4'9" headroom, if I raise the floor, I'll have 4'.

I extended the box so I have 5' wids. (I'm rather large  )

It's not exactly by the plans, but the trailer I've got is not the flat Harbor Freight type trailer.

Hopefully if won't blow away at highway speeds

Build Update 5/29/10

Postby PapaJ » Sat May 29, 2010 6:08 pm

Well, the doc let me take the blow up cast off Thursday and I spent a couple hours sanding and doing some odd and ends on the trailer.

Foot feels OK (a little sore but not too bad.)

So hopefully I'll have some more progress and pictures this weekend.

Build Update July 20, 2010

Postby PapaJ » Tue Jul 20, 2010 6:20 am

Morning everyone.

It's been a while since I posted last. Having the broken ankle definitely slowed down the build schedule. It didn't heal quite as quickly or as well as I'd hoped. And since I wasn't able to ride my motorcycle for so long, once the ankle healed.....well you get the idea. 8)

Anyway, I think I've made some pretty good progress the past few days, and my new new target date is for my High School Reunion at Fort DeSoto in September. Every year we have a gathering at Fort DeSoto for ALL graduating classes from Key West High School. :applause: I will be flying the Conch Republic Flag high  :applause:

Here's the latest pics.
