I never figured trailer weight. but my tow rig is a 2007 GMC Sierra. rated for 6900# tow. and if I buy a new truck (hopefully some time soon) it will also be either a Chevy or GMC.

i have been slowly working on the front corners, as time allows.
114279114280

the outer bend is 2 pieces of 1/4x2 poplar the 1x3 has a 1/4 groove cut into it at each end. and the inner is another piece of 1/4 poplar. so I have the corner at 1-1/2".
I am going to attach more strips of 1/4x2 to the 1x3 to bring the thickness up to snuff. also going to add some more verticle 1x2's where the bends start to come together. they will also be lapped to the inside of the 1/4x2 strips.

You have set a lofty goal with all of those curves, but I have to say you are doing a great job! :applause:

It all seems to be well planned out... or at least you are working your way through it in a logical fashion.

I look forward to your continued reports. :applause:

planned out?? I'm more of a "fly by the seat of my pants" kinda guy. relatively good at problem solving. Planning, not so much.

Some more progress this weekend. It may seem like I am bouncing around a bit. But, while waiting on glue and wet bent wood to dry. I manage to keep working. The 3/8 bead board on the front will serve as a backer for the finished skin. And was put on already so could get started on the tongue box.114372 the good news is, I have all the roof bows finished.

after cutting and bending the lower portion of the rear wall. I was brain storming on how to make a matching upper piece. At first I tried to put Gorilla Glue into the kerf cuts. that didn't work to well, as the kerf cuts were too shallow and the 5/8 plywood still had a lot of spring back to it. I then tried to glue a piece of 3/8 ply to the top and ran my flush cut bit along the profile. Still a no go. I ended up starting over and deepened the depth of my kerf cuts and glued some 3/32 strips of pine to the inside of the piece (kerf side). and it finally worked.

Love the name "Pork Chop Express" I'm a big fan of Big Trouble in Little China.

"When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, and he looks you crooked in the eye and he asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like that: "Have ya paid your dues, Jack?" "Yessir, the check is in the mail."

Hey Slug, have you seen the pics of the vintage canvas topped campers shown in Alfie's restoration thread?

Very similar shape to what you are building, pretty cool, too.

I had thought about a canvas top. similar to the cover on old life boats or toneau covers for pick up trucks. i think it might still be a possibility.

More progress. Curb side wall is almost complete. the cabinet forward of the wheel well acts as a main wall/roof support. the main support forward of the wheel well for the curb side is also up. lacking some radius supports for the street side wall. I also have the front and rear sitting area/ beds framed out. next will be to frame the 22" door opening out. in the profile pic, you can see Marshal's eyes glowing. he likes to hang out while I work.
