Just a piece of Plexi. Haven't had any decent weather to continue working outside. But hopefully soon!

Hey Glenn,

I've had a number of weeks to think about this situation now... And here are some of my conclusions...

1) I switched plywood suppliers in the middle of my build. And I believe the new supplier did not furnish the moisture resistant luan that the original supplier did. Everything from the new supplier went soft, and leaked water...

2) Not all the plywood edges were properly sealed. And when things started leaking, the end grain really sucked in the water.

3) There was too much interior plywood in the build

The build is only a few years old, but throw enough water in it, and this is what you get... This is the plywood floor delaminating where the water came in due to the defective plywood on the roof.

Very sad, Mike. My entire build is with interior plywood, but with 3 coats of CPES and 3 coats of Uniflex 255. That, and the fact that I live in the dry state of Arizona and park my weekender in the garage, have saved me heartache!

That makes me very sad for you! I know how much works it takes, then to see that happen to it. :(

Yikes... That is frightening. :frightened:  :frightened: I can see why you went with the Foamie this time around. If I ever have to rebuild the Road Foamie, which I hope NEVER happens :worship: :worship: :worship: , I will use an aluminum pan for the floor. For all the work that goes into these projects, it just seems like good insurance to me. Just cranky that I didn't think of it as I started this build :fb :fb I guess it's all part of the learning curve!

I'm so sorry Mike. All that hard work to end up with a bare frame again. (But thankfully, at least you can reuse that.)

Thank you for sharing all your lessons with us though. Your misfortune turned into an education for others and hopefully will save someone else from having to experience this down the line.
