rooftop cargo box

Has anyone built a rooftop cargo box out of foam construction? I had one from Sears and it was real flimsy. A foam one be great and lightweight.

That would work , just need a roof attachment frame ...wherever you get those ?

If you had the old one from Sears still around, I'd reuse that frame... I'd be a bit worried about things banging around in the box, I think the "sock" is critical to this working. I might go double thick just to prevent any damage

Why not just use a set of roof racks and put it on that ?
$10 at a yard sale. A couple wood stringers embedded in the foam, through bolted to the racks and bob's yer uncle.
A foamie 'pod' sounds like a great idea !
