I have arrived at the worrisome place of cutting two $90 3/4” CDX sheets at one time. Yep, not a typo.

Ouch... I'm building a roof right now to protect our teardrop, so I'm bleeding too...

Are you going to cut it a bit proud and then use a trim bit?

All and all it went well. I used three passes with the router. The last two without the pattern. I don’t know what happened but I had one small whoop-de-do on a curve. Operator error I guess. It will be an easy fix with some Phenolic Micro-balloons and epoxy and a bit of touch up with a sanding block...

It Tony does it that way I am likely to follow. Not trying to reinvent the wheel here. Thanks for the tip to level out the jigsaw with a piece of scrap as well...

It's true, plywood prices have really gotten out of control. Even here on the east coast. A piece of 5/8 CDX a year ago was around $35. A couple of weeks ago at HD it was $60. I couldn't believe it.
A month or so ago I traveled to the Boson area to a distributor that carries birch ply, okoume and all sorts of exotic wood to take a look at the products they carried. I wish I had bought the plywood then.
The birch has gone up since and the rep said the okoume was about to go up so I decided to make my purchase. That really burned my wallet up. I suppose prices will come down at some point, hopefully...
but I suppose one has to be fully committed to building now with the prices the way they are. My 2 cents.

Mick,
If you are referring to the ply in the router photo, I think that is Douglas Fir veneer. The lumber yard I use pretty much only deals in grade one lumber but I don’t know how that applies to plywood. I do know I passed on the 3/4” ACX that was at Home Depot even though it was less expensive. I didn’t like the looks of it.

We picked a heck of a time to build for sure. Wood and steel prices!
It is not going to give me reason to pause. After fence sitting and lurking for so long i am finally underway, and folks here are so knowledgeable and willing to share, I feel blessed.

I spent yesterday transferring the layout from the template to the skeleton panels and measuring and checking the book and measuring and measuring again.
I also filled the woop de do’s with resin and micro balloons. I sanded that out first thing this morning and was pretty pleased with the finish. I wanted to hold off till fresh today to start cutting.
I set up my router and With a 1/4” up-cut spiral bit went slower than I probably needed (but it is a long way to the city and another one if I broke it). Probably 7-8 passes later the upper radius was done. I then made all the rest of the cuts needed except the dado’s.
I have a bit more trimming on the door cutouts but they are very close. I just couldn’t help myself from cutting most of the voids proud. I am mentally struggling with the concept though I get it. Just too many years spent out on the ocean in wooden boats and pounding seas.
I welcome any feedback regarding the negatives of leaving more meat. The biggest concern for me is condensation building up.
Also I think I should have screwed the sheets face to face rather than C to C. A bit of prep should take care of it.

i have found that if i pull a pic onto the desktop(i keep my working window and the photo library window just a bit smaller than the screen) ...

double click on it to open it on the desktop ...

hit the rotate button 4x leaving it rightside up ...

close it out saving the modifications and leaving it on the desktop

then attach it from the desktop (not my photo library) ...

it usually comes out rightside up in a thread post

can't rememberize who suggested this to me butt it still works
