Do I even need T Molding ?

Postby Onajourney » Thu Sep 22, 2022 8:50 am

My walls are 1.5" wide and I recently realized that the T molding for the hatch only overhangs 1.25" on the fat side. Well, I can't find any T molding wider to completely cover the 1.5". Then I got to thinking last night, do I even need it? Can't I just use flat aluminum to trim top of the hatch that will rest on the seal? Is there any real function of the "T" that I am missing? I figure I just make the hatch .5" less wide than the opening and call it good to go. I think I have nearly the same amount of hours on the computer looking and for parts as I do building the damn trailer. LOL

It depends on how you build your hatch.
