Aussie Plywood Possibility

Postby MickinOz » Sat Feb 18, 2023 2:59 pm

For Aussie builders.
I was surfing the boat building forums.
(The missus got annoyed when I said I'd like to build teardrop #3, but she didn't day anything about boats.)

Anyway, I came across this:
https://www.bruynzeel.com.au/products/p ... r-plywood/

They are advertising European poplar plywood, with B/BB face veneers, "B Bond" exterior grade glues, 10 x 5.
$600 for a 25mm/1in, 10 x 5 sheet.
Bloody expensive, buy worth a look for Sydney builders.

You need to build a boat that you can sail to America and bring back sheets of plywood! Sounds like there's a fortune to be made.

Mick,
Gunnersens do a 17mm outdoor ply which is much cheaper than that. I used to use it on my builds and all of them are still out there.
Cheers

Paul, last time I spoke to Gunnersons, they could not sell me 10 x 5 sheets. (3050mm x 1535mm.)
That size simply does not appear in their catalogue. Except for one 3.6mm product.

P.S. I built my 2 trailers with much cheaper plywood than that, too. I'm just listing, for benefit of our fellow Aussies, that there is someone who can supply the 10 x 5 sheets should they need them.
