Have limited room in my cabin. My dvd player fits nicely as planned. Sound quality is ok out of one of these small players but I found $20 portable speakers made by Philips and sold at Target.

Tried it out this morning and a 100% improvement on the sound quality!

Speakers fit nicely together for storage and transport. Takes 3 AAA batteries and has an on/off switch in the base of the unit. Simply plugs into the earphone jack of a dvd player, laptop or mp3 player.

Ocoee opted for the cool concrete in the shade. She's always close by though when I'm tinkering in the garage.

Hi Barb,

Great find. The sound in the portable DVD players is generally pretty poor. Since the sepakers are amplified you can play music from a CD player too.

My radio has a jack in the front that I can plug my MP3 player/ XM radio / or my friend's DVD player. I was amazed how good her movies sounded.

I'm looking forward to getting away by myself with a good book and some music. Maybe I'll even break open a bottle of wine. I don't drink often, it would be nice to relax with a glass of wine under the pine trees.

One of my friends gave me this........................

They have a line of wines to offer campers.

Hope you get out soon with that good book, some music, and some wine.

Barb,

That's just too cute. If you aren't a happy camper before you open the bottle, you will be afterwards.

Thanks for the kind thoughts!

Phillips Speakers

Postby CAJUN LADY » Wed Aug 15, 2007 9:32 am

Barb:
I too bought a pair of those and the sound is fantastic for such a small pair of speakers - but - I don't know if I am doing something wrong but I can't lower them. When I plugged them into my Portable DVD player (7"), the sound was at full blast and it would not lower. I will try them tonight and this time lower the volume before I plug them into the DVD. I can adjust the volume on the DVD without the speakers plugged in but not with them. Have you had a problem with that?

Sounds like you are using 'line out' instead of the headphone out. Look for the headphone emblem. It looks like a horseshoe with knob on the ends. :)

Ahhhha! LittleJ, I believe you are right. I did not plug them into the headphone outlet - I think it was the Audio in or something like that. I can't wait to try them out tonight! Thanks for the info.

Will it make my ears buzz if turned up enough??
I know it's not surround sound, but is it a good sound, or "tinny"?

Phillips Speakers

Postby CAJUN LADY » Wed Aug 15, 2007 10:28 am

Steve:

I found they had a suprisingly good sound quality (even at full blast). They are worth the $20. and very compact and lightweight. They fit in my DVD player case without a problem.

I love this forum - so many good tips and members are so quick to help with a solution. It's great to know there are still good people out in cyperspace.

Steve,

It is a good sound, not tinny at all...so much better than the dvd speakers.
